In an era where Democrat means Democrat and Republican means Republican means Republican, it could be years, if not decades before we see it again if not ever. The only way it could possibly happen is under very unusual circumstances. I take solace in the fact that if the Republicans win in 2018 they will most likely lose in 2020 even though after winning 2018, it will seem then that Trump at least has the same chance of winning that he had of losing in 2016. However, there will be no backlash against Democrats going into 2020 and there will likely be at least one problem by then. Most likely the end of this period of economic hypernormalization. On top of that, Democrats will have known they would have lost 3 winnable elections in a row and will then lose its trust in the base and do whatever it takes to win an election ala 1982. At least in the Reagan years, they won 1986 and 1990 and tied in 1982.

When the Democratic Presidents stop being neoliberals only out for themselves. When Democrats get the Solid south back by pandering to racists and idiots. Before 1994, the Democrats had the House for 40 years straight, and 60 of the last 64. Since then they've had it for only 4 out of 24.
FTFY.
Glad to see democrats admitting that the 60s party switch narrative is BS, even if it's only to continue calling the south the land of racist idiots (and then wonder why they don't like you and vote for your party)
Wait, what?
