Ep. 1: Nancy No More
Cummings and Hoyer were dismissed by much of the Democratic Caucus as being part of the same Old Guard of Pelosi, but they refused to withdraw from the race. Instead, they presented a unified bid where Hoyer would become Speaker and Cummings would serve as Majority Leader. Combining forces over a fractured field, the Hoyer-Cummings deal worked out and Hoyer was elected Speaker on the third ballot of the day. Cummings was chosen as Majority Leader later in the day with Kuster being named Majority Whip. Hoyer tapped Neal for Ways and Means Committee Chair, while Lieu was given the gavel of the Budget Committee and Ryan took Oversight.
The new Democratic frontbench was drawn up and ready to go to war with Trump, McConnell, and McCarthy. The next two years would be just that: war.
