The Osama Bin Laden tape released just 4 days out from the 2004 election, costing John Kerry the Presidency. If the tape was released earlier or Bin Laden doesn't release the tape, would Kerry had won the White House. Discuss with maps.

I don't think the Bin Laden tape actually affected anything. What hurt Kerry the most were the Swift Boat attacks he faced. If he'd successfully fought those off, he'd have carried Ohio, and possibly Florida, and have won the Presidency.

I doubt he would've carried Florida. Bush carried it by 5%.

Bush's victory in Ohio is slightly narrower, and he carries Florida by 4% instead of 5%.  That's about it, really.

Nothing major. Bush would still win and be re-elected
