Today is the 42nd anniversary of Franco's death. Let's see what Atlas thinks about him

Horrible person, of course. Although i can give him some credit for realising the regime wouldn't last without him, a stark contrast of what happened here in Portugal.

Well, I can think of 2 reasons  as for why someone would vote (relative) FF:

1: He "saved Spain from communism, anarchy and becoming a Soviet satellite state".

2: His economic performance from like 1955 to 1970 was actually pretty good. When people think of the "good times under Franco" they usually think of the sixties, when repression was lower and the economy was booming, not the inmediate post-war period.

Of course 1 is countered since he "saved Spain from communism" by turning it fascist which is definitely not any better. And as for 2, basically all countries in Europe were performing very good, and most of them better than Spain actually (of course Spain didn't get the Marshall plan, and got US aid later, but still)

He might’ve literally prosecuted those of minority religions, but at least he triggered the libs!

Today I learned massacring the political opposition via extrajudicial executions is valiant according to Thomas.
