You will face intense opposition from me in this bill as long as Paula Deen is the face of Georgia.

Jimmy Carter would be better, although I'd rather have a slightly less political figure.

Terri needs to be replaced with someone else. Maybe John Young?

I'll just put out there that I fully expect us to have a wonderful and active debate over which southerners we ultimately choose to honor. Coming up with this initial list was fun for me, and I have high hopes that this bill will encourage all delegates to think and participate in the debate. After a week or so of alternative submissions I will compile them and we can start discussing, debating, and voting on the amendments. I will also say I can likely be persuaded to support alternatives as well, and that the 2 of my submissions identified by Delegate DTC and Delegate Turner were my trollier submissions. While Im not big into identity politics, as we play around with alternatives, I do hope we ultimately have adequate representation for wimminz and not whites, as they are just as much of the South as we are.

So by all means, please submit alternatives, if you have any. This is a fun way to raise revenue without raising taxes, and helps us brand our region. And who knows? If this program succeeds maybe we can do a series 2 next session.

I think Carter's a good pick for Georgia IMO

Not sure who John Young is but yeah I agree Terri needs to be replaced

John Young is a prominent astronaut who spent 42 years at NASA, did a solo orbit of the moon on Apollo 10, walked on the moon, piloted the 1st space shuttle, and despite not having a 1st record like Shepherd, Glenn, or Armstrong, is pretty important in the history of space exploration.

I think Truman, Carter, and Young are all fine selections. That would also drop us from 4 women to 1 :/

I'll start thinking of some more for other states on the side.

***edit: we could swap Fredrick Douglass in MD with Harriet Tubman i suppose. I am avoiding Rosa Parks, because I have a separate coin program to commemorate the Civil Rights movement in a pre-filed bill which already includes her.

uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=269518.msg5879664#msg5879664

So the 4th prefiled bill up next in our legislative queue is a civil rights commemorative coin which has MLK on one side and Rosa Parks on the reverse.

Ok since there are 5 amendments, I think we should: 1.) Vote on all 5 in the same balloting to save on time, but 2.) Have 5 days to vote. So all delegates have until 11:59 pm sunday est to vote on who they would like to see appear on the coins assuming the bill later passes. Please vote on all 5 amendments, and remember that this is only a vote on amendments to the bill,  not a vote on whether or not the original bill should become a law. Thanks.

So all amendments passed and have been incorporated into the bill text. Any other comments before we proceed to a vote?

In anticipation of our holiday break from Christmas to New Years, I hereby request unanimous consent to proceed with a final vote on this bill. That way we can clear the floor before christmas.
