...can the Governor of Alabama just appoint him back to the Senate? And if the Governor and two-thirds of the Senators both stuck to their stance, how many times could that scenario be repeated?

Also: if he were expelled from the Senate, even if he weren't the Governor's pick for the appointment, couldn't he just run again in the new special election?
