Trying to get ahead of something he lost by saying something to the tune of "he could have won if he wanted" is pretty typical of Trump, who, for whatever reason, can't stand to lose anything, and is willing to look stupid to the majority of the public trying to act like he didn't actually lose. But, who knows. Considering how much America talks about Trump, maybe he should be POTY again. Although if you ask me, I would prefer "Scumbag of the Year."

I just hope they pick someone good this year, because once the Koch Brothers buy them, it's going to be nothing but conservative billionaires from here on out Tongue

This is like when a guy knows a girl is going to reject him, so he "rejects" her first.

Virginia,
I don't know how to answer the poll question, because you have two questions in the one sentence.

You ask :
1.) Is Trump telling the truth
2.) is he just trying to act like a winner even when he didn't win?

My answers :
1.) No
2.) Yes

90% chance it's going to be like "The Women" or something like that.

It was really just if he was telling the truth or not, with me throwing in what I believe to be the most probable reason for lying - that his brain fundamentally cannot accept the idea of losing, and thus needs to save face somehow, no matter how stupid it makes him look.

On second though I should have made it more clear, but since votes are already in I'll just leave it be Tongue

Oh, he did? Me too. They wanted an interview and everything. Sounded like a hassle. Said no. I think their second pick was Chuck Norris, then MLK III, then Kushner, and then Trump.

Regardless of if you love or hate him, if Trump is not Person of the Year, then the title has no meaning.

What women? The women who marched on Washington? The Me Too women?

If it's ever going to be "women", it should be next year when a record number of them are elected to Congress and state government.

If the questions starts with "Is Donald Trump telling the truth...", I don't need to continue reading. Answer is obviously no.

Come on, he’s a narcissist. He never would’ve turned down “Person of the Year”.

It’s not like he’s doing anything else anyway.

Exactly.  Why would anyone ever believe that he turned it down?

Yeah. Every year it is technically always the President of the United States regardless of who is in office, but two years in a row would be rare.

I don't think anyone has the power to turn it down. More Trump nonsense.

Putin's certainly had a better and more productive year than Trump.  Only the fact that Time long since wimped out and stopped making villains their person of the year makes it unlikely.  I'd say that #MeToo or some group that would include them as a subset is the most likely choice right now.  I still think Xi is the person who really should get it, but he won't drive magazine sales, so he probably won't get it.
