These arguments about the existence of God are so utterly sterile.

Very much so.
And no, I do not believe in god.

No, I feel that almost everything can be explained by science and rational thinking, and as such, science is my religion. scientists are my Gods and Goddesses.

As a scientist, I would say probably not.

But as a theological geologist, I would say yes to the belief in God to get the perspective of people who follow religion like some of my friends and associates/relatives.

You need some sort of moral code to keep the crazies under control in all civilisations, and religion certainly filled the void in those times.

Today, the requirement for God is less certain.

God, as in the personal god described in the Christian faith I was raised in? No.

Any god/higher power at all? Your guess is as good as mine. It's right up there with the simulation hypothesis. You can't prove it one way or the other, and it's all up to individual belief.

If you mean God in the traditional religious sense, then my answer is no, absolutely not.
