I really can't understand one thing in all these "sexual harrasment" cases: what happened to presumption of innocence? Until now my feeling was that a person is NOT guilty until COURTS prove it's guilt. Now, after almost EVERY accusation of "inappropriate behavoir," we hear "Resign!" immediately. No courts at all. In general - why everyone takes these accusations as bona fide "truth"? I know many cases where alleged victims lied (even in court), held grudge against accused, even cases where "victim"  accused (a man in that case) after sex (consentual) of rape simply because he refused to marry her.

Presumption of innocence is for legal proceedings, and should remain there. There's absolutely no precedent for the presumption of innocence in the court of public opinion.

I mean, I agree with the MeToo movement but this is a very ugly sentiment imo.

I'd treat this things as I'd treat corruption scandals. Once it's discovered resign. If you are guilty, you will be punished. If you are innocent, you can always run for something else later on.

Of course here the main issue is that courts take for ever to investigate. A corruption case first discovered in 2011 only began its trial this week, 6 years later (plus, we need the trial to end, plus appeals if they happen, so you are looking at a decade out of public office). Still, seems like a good thing to me.

However that's an issue with our justice system, not with presumption of innocence. Plus a sexual harrassment incident involving one person is probably easier to investigate than a large corruption scandal.

If he resigned now, he should be good to run again in 2020 if he is found innocent.

Jesus, you're right. They're kinda...pathetic in their cringey-ness. I should do a thing every time a congressman's texts are exposed and make fun/cringe at their awfulness.

They remind me of Robert Bentley's texts only with a bunch of emojis.

Amy Vilela better pull this off if Kihuen refuses to resign. Otherwise, this seat better be gone. If Kihuen resigns, Reid should just go with Vilela given he seems comfortable running outsiders, but he won't.

Good. Now we can make Amy Viela the nominee and finally get a progressive in Congress.

He's creepy outside of work too, including with women who live in his building.

The party needs to swoop in and shoo this clown out with any power they have to do so. What a disgrace to our country.
