imo, the most interesting part of this poll is that people are much more likely to trust Doug Jones than Roy Moore (58-30) on LGBT issues.  That's... remarkable, to be honest.  Given poll numbers at the top of the poll, it suggests that a Democrat could use LGBT issues to draw voters to support him.  In Alabama.  Let that sink in.

Not to be a downer but it could also indicate roy moore supporters saying they associate Doug Jones with the LGBT community and would vote against him because of it.
That doesn't make any sense. The question was "Who do you trust more on LGBT issues".

>implying Alabungans are always going to respond to a question the correct way

As Doug Jones reminded us, they're 49th in education for a reason.

Also, sending a pedophile to the Senate doesn't make any sense either. Yet here we are.

It may reflect that Alabamans see Roy Moore as too extreme on and obsessed with gay rights, even if they don't approve of gay rights. Maybe they're sick of him breathing fire about gays all the time. Most recently he was in the news for blaming gays for the allegations against him.

The worst possible thing Moore could have done for himself in the last week of the race is start opening his mouth again.

I'm not saying that I think Alabamians are all waving rainbow flags now.  Rather, I think that this interpretation is more correct - even folks from Alabama (even Roy Moore voters!) think that Roy Moore has gone too far.  Doug doesn't need to talk about his support for LGBT rights, but I think he could make hay saying "why does Roy Moore keep carping on about this rather than talking about the issues that matter to us?"

Terrific work. Does anybody happen to know which firm WaPo commissioned to conduct this poll?
