There's no need to tag your post like that. Even new readers should quickly realize what your posts typically are.

TIME's choice was predictable since of the major contenders it would generate the most buzz and sales. Xi wouldn't have raised sales. Trump hasn't had a good year and they can easily put him on the cover any week since he's always putting his foot in his mouth.

Wow they included "Nasty woman" Ashley Judd. Should have been Xi. But alas, Time catering to their coastal people.

Naso, your definition of modern feminism sounds a lot like what people complained about the "old" feminism. People always find ways to resist changes to the status quo and if you're going to change the past in doing so, you should at least realize it.

Yeah, I bet he would have been complaining about the whiners in the "women's lib" movement if he were around back in the '60s.

I think it makes sense. This was the number 1 news item in the country this year. But I do think the term "The Silence Breakers" is pretty lame.

You mean forward in the 60's, don't you? Naso's America is still in the 50’s.

Heck, there are an awful lot of men out there who can't understand why feminism needed to exist after women got the vote.

Why does Time announce these things in early December?  The year still has over three weeks to go.  Some big event could happen that would change who the person of the year should be.

I was rooting for it just to be Ashley. She's the absolute best and most deserving of the bunch. She started this more than anyone by publicly coming out against Weinstein.

As a person who experienced sexual assault at age seven, this is amazing.

I feel Rose McGowan did more for the movement than Ashley Judd did.

Yeah only coastal people get sexually harassed

“Coastal people” is a well-known dog whistle for “progressives”.

it basically means "newsmaker of the year" rather than good guy of the year. Hitler, Stalin, Khrushchev, Andropov, the Ayatollah, Putin, Deng, Chiang Kai-shek   among others have all won it.

#MeToo (officially The Silence Breakers) winning TIME Person of the Year was the right call.

well, Trump won last year, right? So if he can win, they'll give it to any evil person who makes news.

I like the disembodied elbow in the right hand side. That wasn't cropped out by accident, that elbow is meant to represent the women, and men of course, who fear speaking up or who are shrouded by silence and institutionalized threats against coming out.
