We have umpteen million Gillibrand threads now for some reason, so not sure which one to use for any particular bit of news, but Gillibrand has responded to Trump's tweet about her:

She's also using Trump's attack to raise money:

The last thing the Democratic party needs is Gillibrand as nominee. Against someone like Pence, she will not win. That Trump leaning crowd is still out there, whether they like Trump anymore or not.

WaPo has a new story on her:

There's a ton of furor out there for her over this whole Franken thing. I think people are underestimating how angry the Democratic base is right now about how the whole process played out. Literally the most angry I've seen any of them at Democrats since the Iraq War maybe...

Franken got what he deserved, screw him.

I have a premonition that Gillibrand will be the next President.

I've had that gut feeling for a little bit, not that my gut feelings mean anything politically.

This was definitely a big moment that could catapult her to stardom. Just like with Warren and the "She Persisted" thing.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm a bit excited by the thought that the Dem primary might be contested by three women.

Even if the top tier debate stage is limited to 10 candidates, I don't think it's out of the question that Gillibrand, Harris, Warren, Klobuchar, and Gabbard would all make it into the top 10 in polling, and qualify for those debates.  So yeah, unlikely but not impossible that the debate stage will have an equal number of men and women.

I hope! Gillibrand v. Harris v. Warren... maybe a four way with Klobuchard.

I would love it if we had a competitive primary boil down to Gillibrand, Harris, Warren and Klobuchar with the winner picking one of the others as her running mate.  A strong ticket that would lead the country forward!

I forgot about Klobuchar, I like her.

I'm becoming increasingly confident that Gillibrand will be the 46th President of the United States.

She's now donating to charity the $ Trump donated to her in years past:

Good for her. This is probably the best way she can handle this at this point.

Kirsten is tough. She can take down Trump. I do worry about her being called sexist slurs on the campaign trail but she proved she can take it.

What happened to any Democratic politician who is white and a male? Did they just vanish all of a sudden? Can Democrats only nominate someone who is a minority nowadays? Cause that's the only way they can win a presidential election since at least 2000.

The Daily Beast has a new "The Trouble With Kirsten Gillibrand" piece that goes after her for being too calculating and cynical:

https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-trouble-with-kirsten-gillibrand

Think Progress's Addy Baird attacks the piece, by saying, essentially "Oh no, Kirsten Gillibrand is a politician, you don't say?" (paraphrase):

Another response to the Daily Beast piece, this one by Jezebel:

Is Kirsten Gillibrand Too Blonde and Woman-y to Be a Viable Candidate?

Is that Jezebel piece inferring Gillibrand will have the same pitfalls Hillary had? Maybe, but frankly, once you get past the shared traits of being blonde female Senators from NY, the similarities start wearing thin. Personality wise I find them to be almost world’s apart — Hillary is cold and standoffish; Gillibrand is warm and approachable, especially for the media. That’s a layer of nuance Trump and company will obviously ignore if she’s his opponent attacking her as Hillary Jr., over-ambitious, willing to do “anything”, etc., but she at least has the ability to break through that.

That said I prefer Harris to her since even the stupid American public can quickly realize she’s different from Hillary.

Gillibrand and Booker are the quintessential "I'm not Trump" candidates

Trump & Co. have given white males a bad name.

I'm afraid he has stained not just the Republican Party, but also the white male brand.

I think this will pass - think the Clinton association will continue to hurt her. It does seem convenient that Gillibrand has suddenly realised that Bill Clinton is a sleazeball after 20 years of cosing up to them.

New Gillibrand story in Business Insider:

http://www.businessinsider.com/kirsten-gillibrand-emerges-as-a-democratic-contender-for-2020-2018-1

They mention that Joe Lieberman at least once called her "adorably persistent".  Yikes.  If that happened today, it would be a weeks-long controversy.  Tongue
