If there's a silver lining to this, it's that the blowback will be swift and merciless to everyone involved. Not to mention the first time after the repeal some Republican congressman tries to sign on to his electronic mail account on the inter-tubes to check out the latest chain mail about the evil liberals and realizes what net neutrality's actual real-life purpose was, the GOP go back to supporting it overnight.

Can this vote be overturned by Congress or nah? If so, what would the procedure be?

Net neutrality rules could be enshrined into law. In fact, not only Democrats, but some Republicsns are also for doing this. (Including #3 Senate Republican John Thune)

Problem is that we either need to convince Trump or get a whole lot of republicans on board.

Why do y'all care?  Net neutrality was not the policy until 2015 and none of these crazy things happened because the free market would not support it.  NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE BECAUSE OF THIS, so stop stoking fears with your conspiracy theories!

I can see why Ryan is eager to get out of there. The GOP is going to get crushed in 2018.

I'm going to miss our American contributors when their ISPs make them pay $50 extra a month to access Atlas.

Great. Atlas should be pure and beautiful, we can do without the Mericans Smiley. No more hot takes on the IE board. Thanks Trump, so beautiful Cry!

You mean the numerous violations that happened before net neutrality where the companies lost in every court case? Those? Yeah, we need those back like a hole in the head.

I'd prefer to do this Congressionally myself, through a resolution of disapproval.

4 Democrats voted to approve Pai only like 3 months ago. His nomination would of failed without them

But even if those Democrats tanked his confirmation, as stated before, Republicans would have just voted on him again when all the GOP Senators were present. But let's just assume that didn't happen - if Pai didn't get confirmed, another conservative almost surely would have done the same thing. Let's face it - this is what the Republican Party is about. They are the representatives of business. Obviously businesses have competing interests, so they basically represent who has the most cash and other perks to give them. In this case, the telecom industry is mostly united against net neutrality, with only tech companies and content providers for it - companies that are already generally Democrat supporters. There was never really a chance for Republicans to control the White House and not do this.

Can this vote be overturned by Congress or nah? If so, what would the procedure be?

Net neutrality rules could be enshrined into law. In fact, not only Democrats, but some Republicsns are also for doing this. (Including #3 Senate Republican John Thune)

They could, but I wouldn't expect it anytime soon. Republicans were offering a crap deal before, but now that they got what they want, I doubt they would offer the same thing.

But to be clear - this fight isn't over by any means. A future Democratic administration can just reinstate Title II rules, and I'd say that is likely due to the large support and enthusiasm for net neutrality on the left. At some point or another, conservatives are just going to have to learn to live with net neutrality (as if it's soooo bad), because the public is strongly for it and Democrats are not going to stop pushing it once they regain control of the FCC. This is not a winning issue for Republicans - it is purely to pad the pockets of telecoms while using some vague notion of freedumb to justify it. The other people who seem to support anti-net neutrality policy are mostly conservative ideologues whose vision of America is something akin to Mad Max meets Monopoly Man.

Already, people are blaming the 4 Demcrats who voted to confirm Pai instead of the Republicans who allow this repeal to happen! Beautiful!

To be fair, the Dems who voted to confirm him aren't guiltless either. Especially Peters, who doesn't even represent a red state. But obviously, this ultimately rests on the Republicans and Pai.

All due respect, but maybe you should save some venom for the neoliberal traitors who voted for Pai's confirmation.
