If Hillary Clinton was the Republican Nominee and Donald Trump the Democrat Nominee who would you have voted for and who would have won ?

It's not really so hard to imagine, Trump Is socially liberal and was a former Democrat and Clinton is a former Goldwater Republican who has held many conservative views

Clinton would've probably won, and I would have voted for her as well.

But if she was the Republican, her policies would be more conservative than Trump

I don't care, she'd still be far more qualified for the office than Trump.

There is no conceivable alternate timeline in which Hillary would’ve run as a Republican...she only came to prominence as the wife of a Democratic president.

However, Trump running as a Democrat is somewhat plausible given his political independence. I think the most notable divergence would’ve been the Access Hollywood tape...I don’t think the left would’ve had any problem with it had he been a Democrat. They would’ve forgiven it as an offhand comment made 11 years prior, and they would’ve painted Republicans as unreasonable for trying to ruin him over a “harmless joke.”

I'd vote for Trump, even with his current, personality, actions, actions and conducts for purely ideological reasons.

I would have said Trump 2 months ago, but I kinda think he is now a traitor and a rapist, and so I would cross party lines.

I bet in this case 90 percent of OTL Trump voters vote Hillary and 90 percent of OTL Hillary voters vote Trump .

The reason is Fox News would love Hillary because she would have the R next to her name , and Trump would be loved by MSNBC since he would have D next to his name

I think Clinton would have won, because even though partisan loyalty is strong among Democrats, I think it's stronger (at least nationally) among Republicans. If Clinton had run as a moderate Republican, I probably would have held my nose and voted for her, but if she had run as a Cruz-esque uberconservative, I probably would've written someone in.

Clinton/Clinton. Easily.

Democrats don't seem to as harshly attack on gender. Republicans find ways to do it, but they obviously wouldn't if their candidate was a woman.

Since gendered attacks/preconceptions/bullsh-t were some of the biggest hurdles Clinton faced, I think she'd have won handily as a Republican.

Now, Trump is so bad that a Democratic woman could probably beat him in 2020, but if we don't get a woman president sworn in on January 20th, 2020, I think the odds are high that the first female president will be a Republican... for all the reasons I've discussed.

This, especially if he actively pushed for single payer.

Trump is not socially liberal, nice try. Used to be, isn't anymore due to his pandering to the religious right.

In some world where Hillary stays Republican and Trump stays Democratic...

349 - 189

If this was a parallel election to the real 2016, Trump would sweep MIMAL and West Virginia (in comparison to Republican Trump taking MI/WI/PA) and holding most of the rest of the Democrats to win.

States where Democratic Trump outperforms the real Clinton: ME, NH, RI, CT, NY, NJ, DE, PA, WV, OH, MI, WI, IN, KY, TN, SC, FL, AL, MS, MN, IA, MO, AR, LA, ND, SD, NE, KS, OK, MT, WY, ID

States where Republican Clinton outperforms the real Trump: VT, MA, MD, VA, NC, GA, IL, CO, TX, NM, AZ, UT, NV, WA, OR, CA, AK, HI

Definitely Clinton. I have no personal favoritism towards Trump himself, so if he stopped being ideologically closer to me than Clinton, I would easily vote Clinton.

Trump is far from socially liberal and would have been disqualified from the Democratic primary for all the racist, white supremacist pandering he did, let alone win the nomination.
