This question isn't as black and white as the way you phrased it. Are you referring to the Abrahamic God? Or do you mean some other god, perhaps Hindu or Norse? Could one believe in a supernatural/cosmic force, pantheistic god, panentheistic god, or something else and it still counts as "God"? What if you are neither a believer nor a disbeliever, preferring to remain a skeptic of both conclusions?

If the question is "do you believe in the Abrahamic God?" Then my answer is no, I do not. I can't prove that such a deity doesn't exist, but I am highly doubtful that it does.

I understand, but if a person calls the "whatever" that they believe in "God" then the answer would be "yes", if a person calls it "something else" then the answer would be "no". You and others might reject this as being too "black and white", but if I put in a more grey choice it would seem to confuse the issue too much. If you say you believe in the Divine, the goddess, the great spirit rather than "God", then I would suggest "no" to the poll, but that's up to you, and you can change your vote depending on how you view the question.

Yes, because the universe can not exist by accident.

Since when has the choice been merely between a god and a universe created by accident?

What other options are there?

Yes, though my hypothesized God wouldn't perfectly match with any specific religious text's every word or anything.

Is 'not painting' a hobby?

Is 'not painting' a hobby?

Better question, perhaps: is breathing a hobby?

For David Foster Wallace, apparently so...

He's misusing the word atheism and stretching the idea of worship to cover pretty much every conceivable action and interaction in order to make his point.

Wow dude. Wow.

Anyway, I kind of agree with Foster Wallace here, but belief isn't exactly something you can will yourself into having.

Yes I do. As the saying goes, if I'm wrong about God, then I wasted my life; If you're wrong about God, then you wasted your eternity.

Yes I do. As the saying goes, if I'm wrong about God, then I wasted my life; If you're wrong about God, then you wasted your eternity.

This logic is flawed. Living the Christian life is fulfilling. My life is not wasted through it, even if false disbelief was accurate. Christianity is infinitely more fulfilling than a non-Christian life.

Now, to my own beliefs, I certainly believe in God. The evidence for the divine Creator and for Christianity , whether it be in text, experience, history, or science, is overwhelming.
