Moderate, perhaps leaning slightly progressive, which I intend as a compliment. And, I might add, thorough, well-informed, and wise beyond his years.

I know it says “describe” rather than “define”, but I’m at a bit of a loss, so I’ll go with “progressive conservative”.

Cathcon has a sort of paternalistic desire to keep human dignity upheld by some external forces. Whether this paternalism stems from a benevolent affection for the best of humanity and a wish for us to prosper collectivively or simply a cynical belief that your average person doesn't really know what they'd do with freedom if they had it handed to them, however, is up in the air. If it matters.

Moderate-leaning Republican who might not overly like Trump, but finds most attacks on him to be hyperbolic.

A conservative, but not a "movement conservative".  He's a guy who could be part of a compromise if a Member of Congress.  He would not be an obstructionist.
