January 20th - Phil Bredesen's Inauguration Speech

"I do solemnly swear to protect, defend, and enforce the constitution of the United States. So Help me god."

{Crowd cheers loudly as Bredesen takes the stage; He waves at the crowd for a good few minutes before he begins to speak}

"Wow, look at all these people, being right here for my Inauguration . Make me even more prouder for being chosen to be your President and with such a healthy victory too. For too long, you, the American people have been mistreated by Congress in the government. For too long, the government has had influence it shouldn't need over your lives. For too long, you have been abused by corrupt politicians. From today onwards, No More will such things happen. I will work my hardest to fix our broken economy. I will work my hardest to repair our damaged International relations and I will work my hardest to make sure that our Nation is great once more!

[Bredesen leaves stage as crowd cheers for him, planning on his first day in office]

March 16th, 2009 - Bredesen has written his first bill to be reviewed by Congress.

Today, President Phil Bredesen has finished drafting up his plan for a new act, titled the American Medicine Act. The AMA in truth has nothing to do with actual medication but instead is a series of laws and bills that Bredesen had promised on his campaign. These ideas are, simply put, strange ones but these come after a relatively uneventful first 2 months in office with Bredesen just doing the generic things such as creating relations with our foreign allies, and signing the normal things into law. The AMA includes, but isn't just limited with:

- A 3 way Tax Bracket (20%;24%;28%) and a 20% corporate Tax Rate

- The establishing of multiple Healthcare companies across every state as a way for more quality Healthcare.

- The end of Government intervention in Education and allowing teachers to teach what is actually needed in life.

- the promotion of some more Fossil Fuel Energy than Green Energy

- A gutting of a hidden Taxes from the American citizen as well as a total gutting to the IRS

A vote is expected to take place on May 24th

Phil Bredesen's Presidency
April

The month of April began as one of the real months during Bredesen's presidency but here are some major events that happened day by day:

April 2nd-3rd: Meeting with Senate Minority Leader John Cornyn and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to discuss the idea of closing Guantanamo Bay. After 2 days of talking, Phil Bredesen agrees to put the idea on hold for another few months, seeing reason in how closing the prisons may cause more problems than are already around.

April 8th: Cap on Executive Pay set at $450,000, forcing the companies to do so.

April 11th: Today, with great surprise, President Bredesen signed the Iraq Defense Act. The IDA allows 72,000 US troops to remain within Iraq for the next 12 years to keep it stable and to make sure it won't fall to a dictatorship. Many Democrats, including Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, has stated that they are disappointed with the Act but understand why it was signed into Law.

April 13th: Today, on the heels of Phil Bredesen signing the Rio Grande Fence Act which would create a 6 ft tall fence stretching from California to the Gulf of Mexico as well as a 5% increase of Border Security, Florida State Representative Marco Rubio and Celebrity and Former Professional Wrestler Dwayne Johnson announced their candidacy for the Governorship and Senate of Florida, respectively. In a surprise, both candidates are in the lead for their respective races and may win come November in 2010.

April 17th: President Bredesen has overturned the amount of restricted federal research on embryonic Stem Cells

April 21st: President Bredesen hosted his first ever Fireside Chat today, answering questions asked by people online via the administration's website. In the livestream, he defended his platforms for Education, Energy, the military, Healthcare, infrastructure, and taxes. In the end, a poll done after the stream found 71% of people were satisfied with the answers with 27% unsatisfied and 2% unsure. All in all, it was considered a great success.

April 27th: President Bredesen signed into law Executive Order 13489, in which the President would only have a salary of $250K a year with a businessman President or a Senatorial or Governor President being forced to give up their former Salary for this one. The Order has a explicit expiration date for May 12th, 2023.

This was all of the Month of April in 2009 during President Bredesen's term.

Couldn't agree more. If only he ran in '08. I have a separate thread for 2012 predictions. You can post your own there if you feel up to it.

Phil Bredesen's Presidency

May in Review

The Month of May in 2009 was another significant Month for President Bredesen, with many agreeing that it was perhaps one of the most important months of his presidency at the time

May 5th: Today, President Bredesen has met with President Shimon Peres of Israel in the Oval Office to discuss Israeli foreign affairs, the Relationship between Israelis and Palestinians, and the possibility of a One State Solution. When asked why he didn't discuss a Two-State Solution, the President simply said "We don't negotiate about countries that harbor terrorists or have terrorist sympathies." Some Democrats, such as house leader Nancy Pelosi and newly elected Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont have called the meeting a tragic display of who the president prefers, though many agree that the meeting may bear fruit in the future.

May 6th: Today, President Bredesen and President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai had a meeting in the White House to discuss information that has yet to be released to the public, though Many believe it's to discuss possible ways to track and either kill or capture Osama Bin Laden, the man who masterminded the 9/11 attacks 8 years ago. the President of Pakistan was considered to join the meeting but it was decided against as Pakistan is believed to be giving sanctuary of Bin Laden.

May 15th: President Bredesen has announced that Today he will place a cap on Government Spending to $54 Billion for the next 6 years and he has been widely seen as a great supporter of the idea.

Yes: 72;No: 28

May 24th: Today, after a few hours of debating, the vote on the American Medicine Act happened today and it was a landslide for Yes with Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders and Arizona Senator John McCain being only two of the senators to vote No on the bill. While it's expected to pass the House, nothing is sure as of yet but currently, it seems that the AMA is well on it's way to being law.

All things considered, May was a good year for President Bredesen.

Approve: 76%
Disapprove: 16%
Unsure: 8%

Should I continue with the Month by Month updates or should I do a Year in Review with only the most important events happening?

I just have two issues-is West Virginia Democratic or Republican?  You had Douglas as winning it initially, then you had Bredesen winning later.  BTW, if Tennessee is going Dem, so is West Virginia.  Oh, and why would Bredesen lose NW Florida in the primary?  That area is more like Alabama than the rest of the state.  It's the Redneck Riviera, according to Karl Rove.
