Elections of 2018:
You Decide

Hello, everyone!  Seeing the recent trends of creating scenarios that you the posters guide (shoutouts to Kamala and Parrotguy for their amazing jobs), I figured that I should jump in.  However, since I lack the creativity and detailed knowledge needed to focus in on one or a few nations, I figured I would make a generic scenario where you vote in the various elections of 2018.  I will mainly remain on schedule with this year's elections but might throw in a surprise or two Wink.  I will provide some background and then leave it up to you on how you want the elections to turn out.  Vote for whichever candidate or party that you want or vote strategically (I would recommend the latter, but it's your world Smiley).  I hope you enjoy!

Starting tomorrow: the Czech presidential election.

NOTE: Every poll will be run for three days.

Drahoš Wins First Round in Surprising Result, Will Face Zeman in Run-Off

Czech presidential candidate Jiří Drahoš beat incumbent President Miloš Zeman in a surprising result, according to unofficial results on Saturday.  The candidate, who ran as a centrist independent but was backed by the KDU–ČSL and STAN, won 45.8% of the vote, thereby surpassing Zeman's 37.5%.  European pundits were stunned by the rejection of Zeman.  The president had been leading the first-round polls and was widely expected to go into the second round with a strong victory.  Exit polls showed that voters disagreed with Miloš Zeman increasingly Eurosceptic attitude, which Jiří Drahoš sought to capitalize in the final days of campaigning.

In his victory speech, Jiří Drahoš said, "We are one step closer to a nation of the free market and unity with our European allies!  Let's put this populist demagoguery of my opponent to rest!"  Miloš Zeman in his speech remarked, "Do not fall for the lies of my opponents. We stand for Czech values and will show all of Europe that in the next round!"  Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, who is close with Zeman and formed a government at his request after last year's parliamentary election, had no comment when requested.

President Drahoš

Independent Czech presidential candidate Jiří Drahoš has beaten incumbent President Miloš Zeman, according to unofficial totals.  Drahoš was reported to have won an astounding 57.6% of the vote to Zeman's 42.4%.

Drahoš spoke at his victory celebration late Sunday.

A dismayed but resilient Zeman spoke as well.

In a written statement, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš congratulated Drahoš and hopes that "we may put aside our political differences to move the Czech Republic forward."
