Marcel Hirscher has just won his 2nd Gold medal @ these games.

Smiley

This comes after a very bad day yesterday for us: Anna Veith had the Gold medal almost 100% secured and then came snowboarder (!) and total outsider Ester Ledecka and beat her by 0.01 seconds. Then, Janine Flock was leading in the skeleton event after 3/4 runs and fumbled her 4th run and went out of the medal ranks. And Michael Hayböck was 2nd after the first ski jump event and also crashed out of the medal ranks.

But I'm still quite happy with the overall medal result so far: 4x Gold, 2x Silver, 4x Bronze

Germany's not leading the medals table anymore. We've been surpassed by the Norwegians. Cry

But we have already collected more medals in the halftime than during the whole of last the Winter Olympics. Cheesy

No silver medal at the two-man bobsleigh event.

Both Canada (Justin Kripps / Alexander Kopacz) and Germany (Francesco Friedrich / Thorsten Margis) have won gold medals due to a tie. 🥇  🥇  🥉

Triple win at the Nordic combined large hill event for Germany!!! 🙌
We won gold 🥇 (Johannes Rydzek), silver 🥈 (Fabian Rießle) and bronze 🥉 (Eric Frenzel)!!!!
Furthermore, Vinzenz Geiger came 7th, so that 4 of 7 best Nordic combiners come from Germany. 🤗
It's Eric Frenzel's second medal at these Olympics; he already won gold 🥇 at the Individual normal hill event. Congrats!

We therefore are tied with Norway again regarding the number of gold medals (11) after 69 out of 102 decisions, but still trailing behind the Norwegians, as they have more silver medals. But I am very sure that we will also win the third Nordic combined event (team large hill), so that we're eventually gonna surpass them.

What a rare picture!

I think we have a couple good Gold medal chances left, such as:

* Alpine Slalom (Men)

* Snowboard Big Air (Women)

* Alpine Downhill (Women)

* Alpine Team Event (Men + Women)

* Ski-Cross (Men + Women)

* Snowboard-Cross (Men + Women)

* Snowboard Giant Slalom (Men + Women)

I was happy to see so many Americans medal yesterday.  I think it was the best single day for Team USA so far.

Without NHL players Canada is good but not invincible.

That's a big surprise, even with the fact that no NHL or AHL players were allowed in this.

Time for a review:

All combined, I'm hoping for 3-7 Gold medals and a couple others - which would be the long-term Austrian average for Winter Olympics.

Nailed it. 5 Gold and about 10 others.

In Gold medals, SI.com did ...

* overestimate Norway.
* if Germany wins 2 more Gold tomorrow, they would have nailed Germany.
* nailed the US and Canada
* significantly underestimated France and also Holland
* nailed Austria and Japan
* overestimated South Korea
* underestimated Sweden
* got Switzerland, Italy and Russia about right

Germany has won the four-man bobsleigh competition, so that we are leading the medal table again.
I hope the ice hockey team will beat the Olympic Athletes from Russia at ice hockey today and win its 15th gold medal.
