It's looking more and more like this race will be Newsom vs Cox.

I've seen a tv ad for Gavin a Youtube ad for Chiang and Villaraigosa and 3 signs for Allen nothing for Cox or Eastin

I like Villar's ads more than Newsom's, his seem to resonate more with working class people than Gavin's who seems to be focusing on Trump/social issues. Chiang's ad are the worst, very boring doesn't resonate at all.

Your interpretation of the ads sums up the race pretty well.
Newsom: Sleazy douche who says the right things and has no track record
Villaraigosa: Earnest, pragmatic, and with a great track record
Chiang: n/a

I'm really hoping the GE is D vs. D because I have a fear that Newsom gets MeToo'd in October and Cox wins. It's not even out of the realm of possibility considering his past behavior.

Does Cox want to MeToo Newsom or something?

Just helped my dad fill out his ballot for the primary
for Governor: John Chiang
Lieutenant Governor: Jeff Bleigh
Secretary of State: Alex Padilla
Attorney General: Dave Jones
Insurance Commissioner: Steve Poizner
CA 30 Representative: Jon Pelzer
Senator: Kevin De Leon

Poizner, the de facto GOP candidate?

Do some research on him he's not partisan at all he's got a really good platform and the democratic candidates have no experience in this field and are focusing on partisan issues which isn't what this job is about hes not even like a small government guy hes further to the left than Arnold and most of the other CA GOP people the only thing I have disagreements with him on are Single Payer and immigration (which isn't part of his job) but hes better than other candidates in the field
Will the runoff be Lara vs. Poizner?

My endorsements:

US Senate: Dianne Feinstein (at least for the primary; I'd rather it be a Dem-Rep general)
Gov: John Chiang
Lt Gov: Gayle McLaughlin (I'll probably end up supporting Eleni Kounalakis in the general)
AG: Dave Jones (this was a hard choice and Xavier Becerra is good too)
SoS: Alex Padilla
Controller: Betty Yee
Treasurer: Fiona Ma
Insurance Commissioner: Ricardo Lara
State Superintendent: Tony Thurmond (Not Marshall Tuck!)
BoE District 1: Anyone but Ted Gaines (I'm voting for Connie Conway in the primary)
7th Congressional District: Ami Bera

For all those Democrats on here that think basically every California statewide race will be D vs D, remember that voter participation in primaries is usually terrible and Republicans usually have higher turnout rates than Democrats.

http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-pol-ca-road-map-voter-turnout-primary-20180513-story.html

Also it's ridiculous how much money is being spent on the Lieutenant Governor's race considering that the position basically does nothing.

@realDonaldTrump

California finally deserves a great Governor, one who understands borders, crime and lowering taxes. John Cox is the man - he’ll be the best Governor you’ve ever had. I fully endorse John Cox for Governor and look forward to working with him to Make California Great Again!

As for how this impacts the race, I dunno
