We all know that tobacco companies tend to be very shady and dishonest. Should they be banned from entering the legal marijuana industry to prevent them from manipulating research on the effects of marijuana and/or manipulating the contents of marijuana products?

No.  If anything, they'd be doing less damage if they shifted more of their operations toward marijuana.

Would this even be feasable? Couldn't they just create a "new" company and have them sell marijuana?

The ban would include any companies connected to tobacco companies.

What exactly are you proposing?  Phillip Morris can't get into any aspect of the marijuana industry?  So what's to stop the people that own stock in the tobacco companies from buying stock in marijuana companies?  But never mind that obvious and easy work around, I'd imagine with the infrastructure that they have in place already that they could get weed to people much cheaper than most others in the industry, isn't that a good thing for consumers?

Then definitely no. For similar reasons to Rfayette, along with it ensures that those who work in the tobacco industry still have a job as fewer folks turn to tobacco over time.

No, but only in companies based in weed legal states and in which we need major regulations.

I think the primary concern is what kind of product that they may come out with that works to addict their new consumer base.

The high does the trick.  Your brain does the rest.  They might spend money to make smoking or using weed as more socially acceptable in public.  Or breed stronger strains for their more loyal users.

I would really rather have them in the marijuana business than tobacco.
