RFK wIns in 68 and 72, beating out Nixon and Ashbrook, respectively.  He is Popular, and like his brother, he cuts taxes and is strong on Communism, despite withdrawal from Vietnam.  After 14 years of democratic rule, the GOP takes over congress, making room for a Reagan landslide in 76.  He serves 2 terms, cutting taxes and the economy booms.  He is succeeded by Paul Laxalt, who also serves two prosperous terms, culminating in the collapse of the USSR and the election of Bob Dole.  In 1996, although the economy soars thanks to new tax cuts and the successful policies of Fed Chairman Paul Volcker, Texas Governor Ann Richards defeats President Dole in a squeaker.  Because of cancer, she chooses not to seek another term, and VEEP Bill Clinton wins the Democratic nor for pres, but loses to Senator Al D'Amato in a landslide thanks to the sex scandals he is involved in, in addition to Whitewater.  President Pothole serves two successful terms, and is succeeded by Vice President Barry Goldwater Jr
