I asked the moderator the same question and he told me that people like Rep. wxtransit would be interested in entering the game. Let's hope that they will announce their candidacies soon enough.

Let's pray. Until then, why does GoTFan always choose Feingold? I'm curious

I agree that Feingold v Bredesen would be fun as it's the classic Progressive vs Conservative

Jack Kemp campaign update 1

Jack Kemp kicked up campaigning in New York and Iowa where those two states were the first that Kemp started a GOTV campaign and nationwide offices throughout those two states.

Here’s a section from Kemp’s speech in Grand Raphis Iowa.

Kemp:Go we have another Bush in the race!  While I respect and have nothing against Jeb and his brother George W and of course their father who I gladly served as HUD secretary under.

However Through the past decade we have nominated two bushes and they have both lost the election to the Democrats and we would be repeating the same mistake if we nominate Jeb as our nominee.

If George W couldn’t win in 2000 then what makes us think that Jeb could win in this next election?

Will a Gore still be able to join during the first term?

Dick Cheney's campaign announcement speech in Austin, Texas

Hello, Austin.

It's a great honor to be here to talk about which path America has to follow for the sake of its future.

It's been 3 years since we are suffering this mess caused by President Gore's weakness. Two years after 9/11, the worst terrorist attack orchestrated against the United States, even though we recaptured all of Al Qaida's territory in Afghanistan, not enough efforts were given by the Gore Administration to totally defeat Al Qaida and to find and kill Osama Bin Laden. Since 2 years, Gore reduced our defense budget, which deprived us of the necessary military arsenal to defeat terrorism. As a result, the radical Islamic terrorist threat is still strong and we suffered 3 terrorist attacks on our national soil. And now, President Gore is refusing to intervene militarily in Iraq to take on Saddam Hussein, who is making Iraq a safe haven for terrorism by giving refuge to the worst jihadists in addition of seeking to get weapons of mass destruction, which would allow Saddam Hussein to strike the United States and our allies and which would be a serious disaster. We can't tolerate this.

I have all the required experience to keep America safe. I proudly served as U.S. Secretary of Defense and under my watch at that office we kept America safe by defeating Iraq during the Gulf War and by keeping our military strong. So I know what it takes to keep us safe and to defeat Al Qaida. We have to strengthen our military and our alliances and by wiping Saddam Hussein off the map and by putting all the necessary pressure on Iran, we will not suffer nuclear attacks.

It's been 3 years since the Gore Administration is weakening our economy through job-killing big government policies such as high taxes on the entire American people and on businesses, which is shipping American jobs overseas. Gore has declared the war on America's energy industry by imposing skyrocketing taxes and regulations on fossil industry and by reducing permits and liscenses on federal lands. And worse, we are suffering the effects of the Third Oil Crisis. Because of President Gore's populist policies, America is now much less competitive in the global economy. As a result, our unemployment has drastically increased to almost 7 %.

I know what it takes to restore our economic strength. I'm a businessman. I've been the CEO of Halliburton, a prosperous oil company that created jobs through oil drilling and production as well as free market leadership. America's economic prosperity requires the promotion of free enterprise, small government, lower taxes for all Americans, reduction of government spending, promotion of oil drilling, full advantage of all of our sources of energy, education reform, budget balance and championing small businesses.

And I'm proud to have ran as George W. Bush's running mate four years ago.

In conclusion, I have all the necessary experience to restore America, whether it's on the economic front, on the foreign policy front or in the social front.

And that's why I'm here to announce you to announce my candidacy for President of the United States. And if you follow me, we'll get America back in the right direction.

Thank you. God bless America.

Gingrich 2004: "American Solutions"

Press Release: After weeks of speculation, former Speaker Newt Gingrich formally announced his intention to run for the GOP nomination on June 1st, 2003, in a speech in Atlanta, Georgia. The Speaker also noted his intention to become the "conservative alternative" in the primaries, citing the moderate profile of the majority of the current field.

Before we start...

Note.

Mike Huckabee's opinion regarding abortion in this scenario allows exceptions for rape and incest, adding on to threat to mother.

Note.

Huckabee in this scenario also personally is not fully against same-sex civil unions, while being against gay marriage.

In the broad term, Huckabee in this scenario is the same as in real life, still a social conservative, just not as hard lined as he is in reality.

Round 1 - August 1-August 14 2003

The 2004 presidential race started to get heating up in these times of uncertainty marked by high unemployment and strong terrorist threat.

On the Democratic side, President Gore's unpopularity has encouraged 2 of his fellow Democrats, Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen and Wisconsin Senator Russ Feingold, to challenge him. As a result, Gore is challenged on his left by Feingold and on his right by Bredesen.

On the Republican side, the race for the Republican presidential nomination is wide open as expected since all of the candidates have high name recognition, especially Arizona Senator John McCain, a former POW and the runner-up of the 2000 Republican presidential primaries, Dick Cheney, former U.S. Secretary of State and 2000 Republican vice-presidential nominee, Rudy Giuliani who was Mayor of New York City during the terrorist attacks of September 11 2001, Jeb Bush, Governor of Florida and son of President George H. W. Bush and brother of 2000 GOP presidential nominee George W. Bush, Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House, Jack Kemp, former HUD Secretary and Bob Dole's running mate in 1996 and Mike Huckabee, Arkansas Governor who « defeated the Clinton-Gore machine ». While Senator McCain, Rudy Giuliani and Jeb Bush represent the moderate wing of Republican primary voters, Mike Huckabee and Newt Gingrich both considered themselves as the « conservative alternative ». McCain and Cheney are mostly focusing on their foreign policy experiences in order to win among the voters who selected foreign policy and terrorism as the most important issue, which is something that could also play in favor of Giuliani due to his his leadership on and after September 11.
