I took the California Zephyr to my annual meeting in the Rockies. It added 14 new counties in IA, NE and CO. The total count is 438 this year with 201 new counties. Red and magenta are counties first visited in 2018. Blue and green are counties visited in a prior year as well as 2018. Red and blue counties were slept in overnight during 2018. Yellow are prior counties only visited by airport/boat/rail coach.

And this weekend I took a drive to see the fall foliage in MI, particularly along the Au Sable River Rd National Scenic Byway, though I did stop at some other interesting sites like the world's largest Christmas store and a hand built wooden museum of hand built pine furniture.

The total count is 470 this year with 219 new counties. Red and magenta are counties first visited in 2018. Blue and green are counties visited in a prior year as well as 2018. Red and blue counties were slept in overnight during 2018. Yellow are prior counties only visited by airport/boat/rail coach.

Let's just say I haven't gone very far this year.

The black county is my home county.

I've been to the red counties in February.

I've been to the green counties in March.

I've been to the orange counties in October.

On my drive east for Thanksgiving I managed a detour around Buffalo that took me to two new counties. Though I was only there for about an hour, I found Geneseo to be quaint and friendly, worth another visit. I'm flying home, so I don't need to update this for a return.

The total count is 514 this year with 221 new counties. Red and magenta are counties first visited in 2018. Blue and green are counties visited in a prior year as well as 2018. Red and blue counties were slept in overnight during 2018. Yellow are prior counties only visited by airport/boat/rail coach.

I completed my last counties for the year today as part of a holiday trip to MO and TX. The map is a bit strange since I ended up in Branson to celebrate the new year rather than returning home.

The total count is 638 this year with 283 new counties. That passes last year's count of 209 new counties, and I'm fairly convinced that it's going to be the most new counties I ever get in a single year.

Red and magenta are counties first visited in 2018. Blue and green are counties visited in a prior year as well as 2018. Red and blue counties were slept in overnight during 2018. Yellow are prior counties only visited by airport/boat/rail coach.

States I have been to in 2018:

Missouri (obviously)
Washington
Oregon
Tennessee
Georgia

Drive through only:

Arkansas and Kentucky

Counties I have been the most in 2018 besides St. Louis City/County:

Cook County, Illinois
St. Hick (Clair) County, Illinois
Jefferson County (driving through mainly).
Ste Genevieve
Iron
St Francois..

Guess where my family lives?

Jan 17 - Stark

Reasonable chance that could be it for the year, or at least for a couple months now.

Feb 20 - Cuyahoga

Mar 15 - Lake

Sep - Medina, Wayne, Ashland, Richland

Oct - Trumbull, Mahoning - FINAL

Mahoning is the new county, in the sense it's been upgraded to a county I've passed through to one that's actually been a destination once.

For the second straight year, I have not left Ohio. I'm still not rich enough to travel. My plans to visit Mt. Davis in Pennsylvania were frustrated by the constant rain this fall.
