I am currently writing up an amendment to allow job security to those convicted for drug abuse. Could you extend the objection period 12 hours or so, yankee?

1. People who are convicted of drug offenses will receive one week of half pay for court proceedings, as well as job security for cases where one will be in rehab.
2. Taxes are not paid on this half pay.

Are we comfortable with mandating that a firm is unable to terminate an employee sent to a rehabilitation facility regardless of either the severity of the problem, the sensitivity of the work, or, most importantly, the length of time the employee may be absent?

However, the company can move them to a different position and can fire one if they were in the process of doing so before one enters rehab.

If that's an amendment that's being offered, I object.

If Rep. politicalmasta is simply looking for feedback on the text, while I can't see myself supporting this provision whatever the format, I would suggest clarifying with more specific language the provision allowing for firms to fire employees convicted of drug offenses 'if they were in the process of doing so'.

In the meantime, to address Justice Blair's concerns I offer the following Amendment:
