She is definitely not slowing down on her signature issue:

Though, interestingly, there is backlash from some on the left-of-center, criticizing the push to recall judges who don’t give harsh enough sentences.  See some of the responses in that Twitter thread as well as this tweet by Mark Joseph Stern of Slate:

Electing judges is a terrible idea to begin with.

As much as I hate judicial elections, as long as judges are elected anyway, liberals have to fight to make sure there are good judges on the bench. Conservatives don't have any qualms about using judicial elections to further their agenda (see, e.g., the successful recall of the judges who legalized same-sex marriage in Iowa), so one-sided disarmament is tantamount to surrender.

Please remember that great judges are those who have a commitment to being objective, like Judge Learned Hand, and Supreme Court Justices Holmes, Cardozo, and Black.

There's no such thing as a great elected judge.

Terrible precedent to set if you care about the future of left-of-center politics in this country.

The whole point of having judges and allowing them to make correct rulings is to exempt them from the court of public opinion. (See Roy Moore and the three in Iowa ho were voted out over gay marriage)

While recalls of judges in California are quite rare, judicial retention elections are more common, and have really favored conservatives, with 3 anti death penalty members of the California Supreme Court losing in 1986.

This is the Brock Turner judge by the way, the one that decided an actual jail sentence would derail his life too much. The judge should be out of a job and Turner in prison, but hopefully we can at least accomplish the former.

I very much doubt the African American community is angry with the recall of a judge who won't punish people because they're white, rich, and have talent.

This is a very bad thing, and a pretty irresponsible move on the part of a sitting Senator. Gillibrand should resign.

I very much doubt the African American community is angry with the recall of a judge who won't punish people because they're white, rich, and have talent.

The actual consequence of this will be that a message will be sent to judges that they have to be institute tougher sentences in general if they want to keep their jobs. And that's going to disproportionately impact African-Americans.

At this point, it seems far left twitter is going to get mad at her for everything because she's a woman running for president.  They never seem to quit when it comes to women having goals in life.

They're still pissed at her with the Franken debacle. He admitted to the crime and voluntarily resigned his post.

Federal Judges doesn't have to face judicial elections.

If the judge hadn't been recalled but simply defeated for re-election, would that be a bad thing?

Center-left liberals were mad that Franken resigned, not leftists. This is a fabrication.

I apologize for being able to see two feet in front of me and knowing that targeting lone judges like this carries disastrous consequences.
