Hillary Clinton basically got 50,000 votes in this District. A significant portion of those votes will probably go to the Mountain Party nominee if Democrats nominate someone who supported Trump openly in 2016.

Ojeda's basically the Appalachian Bernie Sanders. I don't think enough voters actually care about who he supported in 2016 (which, by the way, was electorally necessary – had he endorsed Clinton he would've committed political suicide) that it would impact the results in any meaningful way.

Justice came off as a slimy rich guy who never seemed too ideological. Ojeda is nowhere near that; he comes off as an honest (and understandably angry) guy with an inspiring background. People love HIGH ENERGY Ojeda. He's really building a personal brand.

He also has disagreed with Trump on most things; I don't think many of the Clinton voters in this district are going to be #resistance liberals and vote against Ojeda simply on his Trump vote. They will take a win in a state that has not been politically favorable to them for quite some time.

The point is that is was political suicide either way.

There's no Mountain Party member on the ballot in 2018 by the looks of it. Though I really doubt Ojeda's former support for Trump would hurt him in any case.

Ojeda is doing a live stream tonight about the attacks he received from the GOP chair. He's gonna tear her apart.

You really don't get it do you. Ojeda is trying very hard to distance himself from controversial national politicians like Pelosi, and Obama in order to win the district. Ojeda is able to secure the liberal vote by being so liberal on economic issues dear to West Virginian liberals. I feel like it's just ignorant of the district's history to think Ojeda has no chance here, especially considering Conor Lamb's recent victory in PA-18.

Melody Potter is really acting like she wants to make what should be a Safe hold competitive. Note that this is an R+23 District, and PA-18 was an R+11 District, but after thinking about it, I have decided to shift this District from Safe R to Lean R.

Melody Potter has created an opening for Richard Ojeda to possibly win, through her misguided insults.

West Virginia republicans are not attacking Ojeda for being on the government dole:

Of course, she fails to mention that said "government money" is a military pension earned after 4 tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. The West Virginia GOP has no idea what to do with Ojeda.

My god that's an insane ratio

Ojeda is pretty badass. I wouldn't mind losing a House seat to his kind.

Ojeda is not anti-Manchin; he was his State of the Union guest one year! He said at a recent rally to a crowd of booing progressives that he will work with Manchin in whatever way he can.
