Cypriot Presidential Election
(First Round)

Incumbent President Nicos Anastasiades is running for a second term as President of Cyprus.  The polls show that he will win once again, but are the polls wrong?  The candidates:

Nicos Anastasiades (DISY)Sad center-right, pro-EU

Stavros Malas (I/AKEL)Sad left-wing

Nikolas Papadopoulos (DIKO)Sad centrist, pro-EU

Giorgos Lillikas (SYPOL)Sad social democratic, Greek nationalist

Christos Christou (ELAM)Sad far-right, Greek nationalist, Eurosceptic

Who will win?

Note: Due to a personal lack of knowledge of the candidates' positions, the ideologies and issues listed with them above are based on the parties they were nominated or backed by.

REMINDER: The poll lasts for three days.

Friendly reminder that ELAM is associated with Greece's XA. Much farther right than what you make it sound like.

Thanks. As I said, I'm not too sure about Cypriot politics and don't like labeling parties "far-left" or "far-right" unless they are really out there. I'll change that now.

If this was ranked choice:
1) Malas (Progressive Party of Working People) yes, I know a lot of the party is M-L, but I seem to agree with them on more issues than the other candidates.
2)Lillikas (SYPOL) would be first if it weren't for nationalism.
3) Papadapoulos (DIKO) no special comment.
4) Anastasiades (DISY) no special comment.
After this I'd throw away my vote. ELAM is absolutely horrible and is essentially a Cypriot branch of Greece's Golden Dawn, a neo-nazi terror group that somehow manages to be the third largest party in Greece.

I do want to note that I'll manually change my vote to DISY since that was an error on my part. If anyone else wants to change a vote before the poll closes, just post it in the thread.

What do we do if there's a three way tie?

I might just use an online program to choose two.

Also, general announcement: the poll just ended.

Hey, I accidentally voted for DISY when I meant to vote for DIKO. Sorry!!!

Makes it easy since we’ll just technically have swapped out each other’s votes Smiley
