Oh god if Moore somehow becomes the nominee without the scandal being revealed he's gonna get clobbered by Hillary.
Also, this is great! Small thing- you have Kasich twice in your poll.

July 12th, 2019: McConnell May Not Seek Reelection

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is reportedly weighing his options for his 2020 reelection bid. McConnell just became Majority Leader again early this year and he will most likely not want to give up his position so soon. But, McConnell is 77 and if he were to run again, he would finish his term at 83 years old. A Republican Leader being that old would be a bad look for the GOP and could lead to bad or misguided decisions by McConnell, being as old as he would be. Speculated Republican Leaders are Texas Senator and Majority Whip John Cornyn or Chairman of the Republican Policy Committee, Senator John Barrasso from Wyoming. McConnell has a 34% approval rating in his home state of Kentucky.

July 20th, 2019: Clinton Announces Major ISIS Bombings

In a Presidential Address to the nation, President Clinton announced that the US has completed a major attack on ISIS-held cities and bases. American forces had bombed major cities that held a majority of ISIS soldiers as well as known bases for the terrorist group. Clinton low approval ratings will most likely be boosted by this announcement, a major win for the fight against ISIS and terrorism. President Clinton had notified Congress of the attack and had gotten strong approval from the leaders of Congress.

August 3rd, 2019: GOP Debate Brings Big Winners and Losers

Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley came out swinging tonight at the GOP Presidential debate, hoping for a boost in her struggling poll numbers. Haley attacked her opponenets for their support of Donald Trump and called for the GOP to be more iclusive and be the party of "all Americans." The popular Governor of an early primary state could help her secure the nomination next summer. The big losers of the debate were Illinois Congressman Joe Walsh, who got a grand total of 4 minutes of speaking time and Texas Senator Ted Cruz who came across as stiff and uninteresting.

August 5th, 2019: Walsh Suspends Campaign

Illinois Congressman Joe Walsh has suspended his campaign for the Presidency, citing low poll numbers and a disappointing performance in last nights GOP debate. Walsh had hovered at 1% in the polls and never gained enough traction with voters to continue a campaign. Walsh also said that his campaign had not received a single donation for a month before his supension. Walsh was a Congressman for Illinios' 8th District for only 2 years and was the second person to announce his Presidential campaign after Roy Moore.

Just read through this; great job! The best compliment I can give is that sounds very much like what a Clinton presidency would have plausibly been like.

Quick question; are you going to include the misconduct allegations against Al Franken and his subsequent resignation?

(PS; props for having Sherrod Brown re-elected in the 2018 mid-terms).

I wanna see a #metoo movement happen in December and see Moore get crushed 😛 Clinton vs Rubio/Haley would be awesome. She’d be the Jimmy Carter of our lifetime, but it would be an exciting race!

Great timeline, but wouldn't there be more than 1% undecided in the approval polls?

August 18th, 2019: Roberts Will Retire

Longtime Kansas Senator Pat Roberts is retiring, opening up an easy hold for Republicans in 2020. Roberts barely fended off Independent Greg Orman in 2014 and rumours of an Orman campaign in 2020 are swirling. Roberts has held the seat since 1997 and is 82 years old. Roberts is a very powerful Republican on the Hill and will be missed by ranking Republican officials. Possible Republican replacements include Governor Kris Kobach and Former Governor Sam Brownback.

August 22nd, 2019: Moore Reaches First Place in Polls

Republicans Presidential candidate Roy Moore has reached first place in the polls, cracking 20% in the most recent surveys. Once frontrunner Marco Rubio is in second with 13% and Ohio Governor John Kasich is in third with 11%. Rubio, Kasich and Cruz have been calling back to the 2016 race when Donald Trump led the GOP primary and eventually lost the White House. Republicans warn that if they nominate Moore, they will lose the White House for the fourth time in a row. President Clinton's approval is on the rise, with 43% now approving of her job.

September 2nd, 2019: Collins Diagnosed with Parkinsons, Will Retire in 2020

Maine Senator and moderate Republican Susan Collins will retire in 2020 due to a diagnosis saying that she has Parkinson's disease. Collin's has seemed shaky in recent months and has missed votes recently, Collins never misses votes. Senator Collins is only 68 and was running for reelection in 2018 until this diagnosis. Collins said that she is thankful for the support she has been given and hopes "to continue fighting for Maine" in the future. This opens up a possible pickup for Democrats in a blue-ish state.

September 9th, 2019: Clinton Announces Minimum Wage Executive Order

In a surprise move, President Clinton announced that she will move the federal minimum wage up to $15 an hour over the next year. President Clinton said that the change will happen gradually so businesses can adapt to the change. This is a big sign that the Progressive wing of the party is gaining more traction and has a big say in what decisions President Clinton makes. This announcement was backed by Senator Bernie Sanders and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. House Minority Leader Tim Ryan has not publicly supported the move.

Good timeline, I can see Clinton somehow squeaking by again in 2020 if Moore is the nominee, especially if the IRL allegations pop up.

September 20th, 2019: Moore Dominates GOP Debate

Roy Moore was the main topic of the 2020 Republican Debate today in Dallas, Texas. Moore is currently leading the field and was centre stage during the debate. Moore gained a lot more speaking time and was by far the most interesting candidate on the stage. 2nd place candidate Marco Rubio tried to attack Moore but the former Cheif Justice just swung back, and harder. Moore attacked Rubio for being "illegal" and his famous water incident in his SOTU response. Other candidates only got a little speaking time and openly complained that they weren't getting enough speaking time. Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval only got 5 minutes of camera time and actually left the debate stage and did not return during a commercial break.

September 21st, 2019: Gardner Drops White House Bid

Colorado Senator Cory Gardner is suspending his campaign for President after a GOP debate only gave him 8 minutes of speaking time. Gardner said that he was not given enough attention by the media and was not gaining traction with voters. This leaves a void for more popular moderate Republicans to step in and gain some momentum. Gardner also said, "Roy Moore is a cancer on the Republican party and I will work my hardest to stop his rise." Gardner returns to a tough reelection bid in Colorado where the popular Democratic Governor is expected to challenge him.

October 5th, 2019: Landrieu Announces Senate Run

Popular New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu is running for Senate, hoping to knock off Republican Senator Bill Cassidy in 2020. Louisiana elected a Democrat for Governor and is expected to reelect him in November. Landrieu says that he thinks that Louisiana is moving leftward and hopes to jolt that move with a win in the Senate race. Cassidy defeated Landrieu's sister in 2014 and he said that she will join him on the campaign trail over the next year. Landrieu stands a fighting chance in a red state.

October 12th, 2019: Inhofe Announces Retirement

Long-serving Oklahoma Senator Jim Inhofe announced that he retiring in 2020, marking the third Senate retirement in a little over a month. Inhofe opens up a reliably red seat but Oklahoma could go blue after an unpopular Republican Governor has been in office for 7 years. Inhofe is infamous for spouting climate change conspiracy, most notably bringing a snowball onto the Senate floor to disprove global warming. Inhofe said in his retirement announcement that he "hopes a principled conservative" fills his seat in November.

November 5th, 2019: Republicans Lose Kentucky, Louisiana But Hold Mississippi Races

In a surprisingly good night for Democrats, the donkey party picked up a Governorship in Kentucky, where Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes defeated the unpopular incumbent Gov. Matt Bevin, and held the Louisiana Governor's Mansion with John Bel Edwards winning reelection by a comfortable margin. In Mississippi, Senator Phil Bryant won reelection and Governor Tate Reeves was reelected in easy races. Grimes claimed a very narrow victory last night and many Republicans were shocked to see them lose a race after their good results in 2018. Bel Edwards and Grimes are now two Democratic Governors in red states. Alison Lundergan Grimes was defeated by Mitch McConnell in 2014 in Kentucky's Senate race.

Kentucky Governor:
Grimes: 48.7%
Bevin: 48%

Louisiana Governor:
Bel Edwards: 56.5%
Abraham: 43.1%

Mississippi Governor:
Reeves: 62%
Baria: 35.9%

Mississippi Senate:
Bryant: 59.4%
Espy: 40.5%

November 8th, 2019: Moore Begins "Bible Belt" Bus Tour

GOP frontrunner Roy Moore launched a 2 month-long bus tour of the "Bible Belt", starting in South Carolina and ending in Louisiana. The Moore campaign says that they have polling that shows them leading in all those states and that they are making sure to solidify those leads. Moore will not be spending these next 2 months in Iowa, New Hampshire or Nevada, all crucial early primary states. Moore leads in Iowa but has been losing ground to Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton in recent days. Moore says that the first couple of states are not necessary wins for him and that he will stay in even if he loses the first four states.

November 21st, 2019: Clinton "Desperate to Boost Approval Rating", says Report

Sources in the White House say that President Clinton is getting increasingly "desperate" to get her approval ratings up. The President has an approval stuck in the mid-40's and one aide said, "she believes that she will be a one-term President if they don't rise soon". Clinton is expected to have a vigorous reelection campaign schedule, with her first reelection rally scheduled in January. The White House also is expected some retirements soon, maybe even in Clinton's inner circle. Rumours swirl that VA Secretary Dina Titus and Education Secretary Lisa Murkowski could resign their positions soon.

December 9th, 2019: McConnell Will Seek Reelection

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced plans to run for reelection in Kentucky today, bucking people who thought the 77-year-old Senator would retire. McConnell did not say if he will continue to serve as Republican Leader, leaving open the possibility that the GOP will have a new Senate Leader after the 2020 elections. Many believe that McConnell is running for reelection because his fiercest opponent, Governor-elect Alison Lundergan Grimes, won the Governorship early last month in Kentucky. Grimes could have run against McConnell in 2020 and would have been a strong candidate against the unpopular Senator.

She’d be the Jimmy Carter of our lifetime, but it would be an exciting race!

As long as "it would be an exciting race", huh? And oh BTW, we already had someone "in our lifetime" that was WORSE than Jimmy Carter....his name was Barack Obama, LOL.

I think Clinton would have been a one-term President as well, and would have left the Democratic party decimated after the 2018 midterms and the 2020 elections (even though I would have voted for her in 2016 and 2020). Unless Roy Moore was the nominee in 2020.

Also how is Barack Obama worse than Jimmy Carter, and in what universe is Jimmy Carter worse than Zachary Taylor, Richard Nixon, Chester A. Arthur, John Adams, or James Buchanan??? Carter was ill-suited for the Presidency but he wasn't that bad; most of what was bad about his administration was outside his control (stagflation and the oil crisis, which were related and started under Nixon), much like Herbert Hoover (though Hoover had a much worse hand dealt to him than Carter).

@Mycroft, excellent timeline, I love reading it!

December 15th, 2019: Hickenlooper Launches Senate Bid

Former Governor John Hickenlooper is running for Senate in Colorado, aiming to defeat incumbent Cory Gardner. Gardner recently suspended a presidential campaign and will be open to attacks from Hickenlooper for "abandoning" the state. As Governor, Hickenlooper was very popular in a state that is becoming very blue. Gardner is seen as the weakest Republican incumbent in 2020 and the race is rated as "Lean Democrat" by the Cook Political Report and Sabato's Crystal Ball. Gardner has yet to officially announce a reelection bid but in very, very likely to seek another term.

December 30th, 2019: VA Secretary Dina Titus to Resign, Replaced by Jon Tester

The Secretary of Veteran's Affairs Dina Titus announced that she will retire effective January 1st and will be replaced by former Montana Senator Jon Tester. This is the second Democrat from a red state that lost in 2018 to be given a Cabinet position after former Indiana Senator Joe Donnelly became Secretary of State. Titus said that she was finding the position frustrating and was going to retire come 2018 anyway. Clinton praised Titus for her commitment to her nation. Tester is a good choice for VA Secretary and will most likely be approved by the Senate easily. Tester was a very moderate Democrat in the Senate and will fit into the history of Republicans holding the position.

January 9th, 2020: Cotton Rises in Iowa, South Carolina

Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton has begun to rise in the polls in recent days, a perfect time for the evangelical candidate to have a surge. Cotton has been at the bottom of the polls for a long time and is just now beginning to gain traction with voters, maybe at the perfect time. Cotton leads in Iowa and is gaining on SC Governor Nikki Haley in her home state. Cotton is considered the alternative to Moore and appeals to the same people as the Alabama judge.

January 20th, 2020: Clinton's State of the Union Given Good Reviews

Wearing all white, in what could be her last State of the Union, President Clinton gave a stellar speech that drew bipartisan praise. President Clinton touted her accomplishments over the past 3 years and said that she will focus on healthcare and defeating ISIS in her last year. The Republican response was delivered by newly-elected Senator Josh Hawley from Missouri, a rising Republican star. Hawley talked about the upcoming 2020 election, saying, "This November, the American people will face a clear choice. We will choose freedom, prosperity and pride come this fall." Clinton's approval will most likely soar after the speech, giving her the needed boost to begin her reelection bid.

Clinton Approval Rating:
Disapprove: 49%
Approve: 48%

GOP Polls:
Moore: 22%
Rubio: 14%
Cotton: 13%
Haley: 12%
Kasich: 9%
Sandoval: 8%
Martinez: 6%
Cruz: 5%

Awesome writing, it's like it's real. Also, what's with the sudden spike of Hillary's approval and drop in her disapprovals? It can't just be for the SOTU??
