Yeah, but he didn't last December (after the whole kid-touching thing), now did he?

Maybe if you take a look at Hillary’s approval rating in this thread you will know why he wins.

When it comes out her opponent is a child diddler, I don't think her approvals will matter much

Her health, scandals the margin she won by in 2016 is that not enough for you?

Roy Moore being a pervert versus Hillary Clinton's ability to have people fixated on how much they hate her is pretty much an immovable object meeting an unstoppable force honestly. It would be a neutral environment.

Stop with all the garbage of Moore winning the Nomination. With the States left it's favouring Kasich.

May 20th, 2020: Kasich Sweeps Northeast, Takes Delegate Lead

Former Ohio Governor John Kasich swept all of the Northeastern states tonight, not falling below 50% in any statewide contest. Kasich has also taken the delegate lead, with once frontrunner Roy Moore now in last. Moore did not address supporters tonight and instead flew back home to Alabama. Nikki Haley also did not spend long in the northeast, flying straight to California after the last results came in. Kasich claimed that he is the only one that can take on President Clinton in November, arguing that Haley is not experienced enough and that Moore is a complete disaster for Republicans in the general election campaign.

Connecticut: 99% Reporting
Kasich: 56.6%
Haley: 31.8%
Moore: 11.4%

May 26th, 2020: Trump Considering Carson, Moore for VP

Donald Trump is reportedly only considering two people to be his Vice Presidential candidate in 2020. Trump wants either Neurosurgeon and 2016 presidential candidate Ben Carson or current GOP candidate and former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore. Moore is still running for President in the Republican race for the nomination, but many believe that Moore would leave the race to join the Trump ticket. Roy Moore has not commented on these rumours and is still adamant that he is running as a Republican and has a path to the GOP nomination. Still, both of these picks would be controversial and Trump is obviously not going with experience on his independent bid for the White House.

June 1st, 2020: Kasich Edges Out Moore in Indiana, Moore Suspends Campaign

John Kasich has won the Indiana primary narrowly and has ended the three-way race for the Republican nomination, as Roy Moore has now dropped his bid the be President. Moore did say that he is not going away and hinted at future political plans. The Moore campaign had banked on Indiana for a much-needed win but Kasich, with the wind at his back after his sweep of the northeast last week and huge fundraising numbers, is on track to win the nomination, even in a contested convention. South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley is not on the campaign trail and is reportedly considering leaving the race as well, which would make Kasich the presumptive nominee.

Indiana: 100% Reporting
Kasich: 39.1%
Moore: 36.8%
Haley: 24.9%

June 9th, 2020: Feingold, McGinty, Harris Announce Opposition to Current Infastructure Bill

Wisconsin Senator Russ Feingold, a Democrat, will oppose the new Republican infrastructure bill being crafted by President Clinton, hurting its chances of passing. Most Republicans oppose the bill as well but there are a few on the fence. Feingold is not alone, Kamala Harris(D-CA) and Katie McGinty(D-PA) also oppose the bill. President Clinton is hoping for a bipartisan win before the general election starts, most likely against the moderate Gov. John Kasich. Feingold was elected in 2016 and has not yet said if he will run again in 2022. Harris and McGinty both have announced intentions to seek re-election.

Hold on, I thought Trump was running? This would split the GOP vote and hand the election to Clinton.

But cuz I personally dislike Clinton, I wouldn't mind Kasich winning. He should legit make Hickenlooper his running mate. That would earn my vote (if I could vote in 2020 Sad )

June 11th, 2020: Haley to End Campaign, Kasich Becomes GOP Nominee

Ohio Governor John Kasich will the 2020 Republican Nominee for President after former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley suspended her campaign for the Presidency this morning. Kasich held a massive rally to celebrate the news and will now advance into a general election with President Hillary Clinton and Independent candidate Donald Trump. Clinton holds an edge in early three-way polls while Kasich leads when Trump is not an option. John Kasich hailed his nomination as a "victory for common sense conservatives" saying, "I want to bring together all Americans". Kasich is said to be considering putting a Democrat on the ticket as Vice President.

June 19th, 2020: Ben Carson "not interested" in Being Vice President

Former Presidential candidate and neurosurgeon Ben Carson said that he is not interested in being Vice President, swatting down speculation that Donald Trump would tap the doctor to be on his ticket for President. Carson said, "I believe that I am done with politics. I don't have the experience to hold public office. I understand that now". Trump's other option for veep is Roy Moore, the controversial former Alabama Justice who just dropped his bid for the Republican nomination.

June 24th, 2020: Infastructure Bill Narrowly Passes Senate

President Clinton's bipartisan Infrastructure reform bill has passed the Senate, with 51 votes. 4 Democrats opposed the bill: Russ Feingold of Wisconsin, Katie McGinty of Pennsylvania, Kamala Harris of California and Gary Peters of Michigan. But, 12 Republicans voted for the bill, enough to get the 51 votes needed to passage. Many moderate Republicans voted for the bill, as well as some less bipartisan members, many of whom are up for reelection this year or in 2022. The 12 Republicans are: Susan Collins of Maine, Rob Portman of Ohio, Marco Rubio and Rick Scott of Florida, Pat Toomey for Pennsylvania, Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, Jeff Flake of Arizona, Scott Walker of Wisconsin, Shelley Moore Capito and Evan Jenkins of West Virginia, Barbara Comstock of Virginia and Chuck Grassley of Iowa.

July 1st, 2020: Former Senator Joe Manchin Blasts Democratic Party

Former West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin, a Democrat, launched an attack against his own party today in a major speech. In the same speech, he also said that he will actively recruit moderate Democrats to run for Congress, Senate and even President. Manchin, who retired in 2018, said that the party is too liberal and needs to get back to the center to win elections. Manchin was a very moderate Democrat and is from one of the most Republican states in the country, West Virginia. "We need a Democratic party that fights for the forgotten, not the people who get all the attention anyway. Democrats are the party of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. We fight for everyone. Let's talk about real issues rather than buzz words".

I think an earlier post said he still retired in this timeline and Blackburn took his seat in 2018.

July 7th, 2020: Infastructure Bill Passes House

President Clinton's Infrastructure Reform Bill has passed the House of Representatives, with all Democrats supporting the bill after some serious whipping of Democratic votes by Minority Leader Tim Ryan. Ryan was battling with Speaker Paul Ryan to help Clinton with a much-needed win before the Democratic Convention in August. Tim Ryan is speculated to run for President one day, but it would help if he could get Congressional Democrats in the majority in the House. Right now, Democrats are at historic lows in the lower chamber, but Ryan sees 2020 and 2022 as possible paths to a Democratic majority and the Speakership for himself.

July 16th, 2020: Trump/Moore 2020

Independent Presidential candidate Donald Trump, a businessman and the 2016 Republican nominee for President, has chosen Roy Moore to be his Vice Presidential running mate. Moore is a controversial pick by an already controversial candidate. Trump will most likely be let into the debates in the Fall, hovering around 15-18% in most national polls. A Trump/Moore ticket brings in more of the GOP base and will likely hurt John Kasich, who is already seen as too moderate for many Republicans.

July 20th, 2020: Kasich to Sweep Through Rust Belt

John Kasich is planning for a 2 week-long swing through a traditionally Democratic part of the country. Donald Trump, as the GOP candidate, came close in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania but could not swing those states to the Grand Old Party. Kasich believes that his moderate, folksy personality will appeal to voters in the blue-collar states of Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania and even Minnesota. President Clinton is taking a different approach, campaigning hard in more diverse states such as North Carolina, Nevada, Arizona and Georgia. Meanwhile, Donald Trump hopes to win in very conservative states, such as Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee.

July 29th, 2020: Kasich Taps Hagan as VP

In a surprise move, John Kasich has chosen former North Carolina Senator Kay Hagan to be his 2020 running mate. Hagan is a Democrat who lost reelection in 2014. Kay Hagan was one of the most bipartisan Democrats in the Senate and is a moderate, bipartisan pick for the Kasich campaign. The Kasich team billed the Hagan pick as an attempt to "heal a divided America" and a "return to civility between Democrats and Republicans". A Kasich and Hagan pick also shows that Kasich is hoping to attract moderate/centrist votes in November, as Donald Trump continues to pick off core, conservative voters.

Hillary is going to get reelected. Reason: By putting Hagan on the Ticket Kasich will lose the GOP Base and Trump/Moore running 3rd Party doesn't help Kasich either. Kasich should have picked Haley...then he would have had a chance getting a bit of the Female Vote.

Unlikely that Hagan will deliver him some Women Votes.

This does seem like a scenario crafted specifically so that the unlikely event of Hillary winning re-election could happen.

Trump could hurt Kasich's chances as an Independent meaning another 4 years of HRC in the Oval Office. He could be the Ross Perot of 2020 if he makes it to the debates. Kasich's stance on abortion could also hurt pro-choice voters.

Given the poll numbers it would've been an easy win for Kasich if Trump didn't run on a third party ticket. A Kasich win could see the map identical to Trump's 2016 OTL win given his campaign strategy.

Clinton's re-election strategy is focusing on Southern states.

August 7th, 2020: Day 1 of GOP Convention: Moderates Take the Lead

At the Republican National Convention in Phoenix, the first day got started with many moderate Republicans taking the stage. John Kasich's wife, Karen, spoke early on while Florida Senator Marco Rubio and former GOP nominee Mitt Romney was the keynote speaker. Romney talked about his relationship with Kasich and is his ability to get things done with both sides of the aisle. The first day of what is normally a partisan affair started out very bipartisan, with GOP speakers praising leaders in both parties who work with the other side.

August 8th, 2020: Day 2 of GOP Convention: Appeal to the Base

Tonight in Phoenix was all about appealing to the base, with conservative and Tea Party leaders taking the stage. There was Iowa Senator Joni Ernst, former Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin and the keynote speaker, Indiana Senator and 2016 GOP Vice Presidential candidate, Mike Pence. Pence spoke about the need to elect a "true conservative champion" in 2020 and also took some swipes at his former running mate, Donald Trump. "Donald Trump is not a real conservative. He only pretends to be one on TV. Pretending to be something for ratings in what Donald Trump does".

August 9th, 2020: Day 3 of GOP Convention: Hagan Accepts VP Nomination, Draws Boos

Former North Carolina Senator Kay Hagan has accepted the 2020 Republican nomination to be Vice President, after some party infighting and concerns over her appeal to the GOP base. Hagan is a Democrat and has said that she will not change her party registration to Republican. Hagan made a strong speech, highlighting her moderate record in the Senate and praised John Kasich for fighting for centrist Americans. Hagan's speech was not all great, she drew some boos after mentioning abortion rights and a few Republican delegates walked out in protest.

August 10th, 2020: Day 4 of GOP Convention: Kasich's the One

Ohio Governor John Kasich officially accepted the GOP nomination for President today, in a restrained speech that pleaded to decency and compromise in politics. He did not attack his competition once, hoping to set the mood for a campaign about issues, not personal attacks. He also defended his pick of Kay Hagan for Vice President, saying, "I picked Kay because she is the best person for the job, no matter her party identification". 64% of viewers said they liked Kasich's speech but only 44% said they were more inclined to vote for him.
