I can see Amazon placing a new HQ in like Charleston or maybe an Appalachian city in Virginia, but such a rural area makes no sense. I mean this is an HQ we're talking about, not a regional distribution center. An HQ needs to be close to major population centers and in an area where there's good enough roads, transit systems, and somewhat of an economy in the region.

February 9th, 2022: Kasich Creates Independent Commissions to Draw Congressional Districts

President Kasich today signed an Executive Order requiring states to draw Congressional districts with independent commissions, instead of having the state legislature draw the maps. This policy has lead to Gerrymandering, a term which means districts that are drawn to benefit one party. Each state will have a Commission, with one Democrat, one Republican, and 3 Independents. Kasich says that there are 5 states that he thinks need this reform the most: Pennsylvania, North Carolina, VirginiaTexas and his home state, Ohio. New Congressional districts were already drawn earlier this year but Kasich says that he wants those 5 states to redraw, using the independent commission. All states will use the new system in 2031, after the next census. Democrats and Republicans praised the decision, with Senator Jason Kander, a Democrat from Missouri, saying the move was "a victory for democracy".

February 13th, 2022: Clinton Plans Aggressive Midterms Campaign Schedule

Former President Hillary Clinton is planning to aggressively help Democrats with their midterm campaigns, hoping to take back the House and the Senate from the Republicans. Clinton was moderately unpopular through most of her Presidency, but now leaving office has seen her favorability ratings soar. Clinton left office with a 48% favorability and a 53% approval rating. Now, Clinton's favorability stands at 62%, with people associating her Presidency with the words "historical" and "feminism". Clinton says she hopes Democrats take back Congress but has also praised President Kasich for his more bipartisan accomplishments, most recently his plan to end Gerrymandering in 5 key states. Former Vice President Tim Kaine, a possible 2024 Presidential candidate, is also going to campaign for Democrats this year, most noticeably for former Governor Tom Vilsack in Iowa, an early primary state.

February 20th, 2022: Finkenauer Leads Vilsack in Iowa Democratic Primary

Congresswoman Abby Finkenauer, the preferred candidate of the DSCC, leads former Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack in the primary to be the party's nominee for the Iowa Senate seat up in 2022. The polls show 38% support Finkenauer while 34% support Vilsack, with many Iowa voters still undecided. The winner of the primary will likely face Republican Congressman David Young. Joe Manchin recruited Vilsack to run and was seen by the CSDC as one of their best recruits but he is running a lackluster campaign, only taking in $660,000 so far, to Finkenauer's $1.2 million. Finkenauer is seen as a rising star and winning a Senate seat in a red-ish state would fast-track her rise in Democratic politics. The DNC reportedly sees her as the better candidate in the general, as someone to could help Democratic turnout and enthusiasm in a state that has slipped out of Democratic control over the last 10 years. The primary is set for March 30th and is seen as a big test whether or not Manchin's campaign to take back the Senate using moderate candidates works or if more liberal candidates will prevail.

March 1st, 2022: Fiorina Launches Congressional Campaign

2016 Presidential candidate and shortlived Vice Presidential candidate under Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina, is running for Congress in the newly redrawn 8th Congressional district in Virginia. The district is still heavily Democratic, with a projected PVI of D+17. The current Congressman is Don Beyer and will be a tough incumbent to defeat. Fiorina previously ran for Senate in California in 2010 but lost to then-Senator Barbara Boxer. Ms. Fiorina is known for her intense, precise speaking style as well as her ability to crush her competition in debate. This race could quickly turn into a tossup race with national interest or Fiorina could struggle in this heavily Democratic district. The GOP announced that because of Fiorina's entrance into the race, they will target the 8th district of Virginia.

March 10th, 2022: Hagan Endorses Democrats and Republicans In Midterms

Vice President Hagan announced new endorsements in the 2022 midterms, supporting both Democrats and Republicans in this year's elections. Hagan endorsed almost every Democrat running for reelection in the Senate, as well as every Democrat running for Governor. She announced support for Republicans gubernatorial candidates George Pataki in New York and Condoleezza Rice in California. She also supports the reelection bids of Senators Rob Portman in Ohio and Marco Rubio in Florida. Hagan did acknowledge that they have different views on many issues but the Vice President sees them as "valuable additions to the Senate" and "she developed a great relationship with both Senators while serving in the Senate". Hagan says that she will not actively campaign for Portman or Rubio but will be "hoping for their reelection". President Kasich will likely not publicly support any Democrats for reelection, hoping for a wider GOP majority to work with in both houses on Congress.

March 16th, 2022: Smith Launches Comeback Campaign

Former Oregon Senator Gordon Smith, a Republican, is running a Senate seat in 2022. When incumbent Democrat Ron Wyden announced his retirement last year, Smith was rumored to be interested in jumping into the race. Now, he has and faces a tough fight in a blue state. Oregon is known for having an independent streak though, possibly helping Smith's comeback campaign. Smith was unseated by Senator Jeff Merkley in 2008 but is not running for his old seat. He is running for the other Oregon Senate seat, something former Senator's rarely does. Smith is a moderate Republican in a year where moderates are doing better on the political stage. Smith will face Democratic Congresswoman Suzzanne Bonamici in the general election. Democrat still feel confident in holding this seat but this is a big recruitment victory for the Republican party, after months for great recruiting by the DNC and the Common Sense Democrats Campaign.

March 28th, 2022: Democrats Announce 9 Senate Targets

The Democratic Senate Campaign Committee announced they will target 9 Republican-held Senate seats in November. The seats are Arizona, South Dakota, Arkansas, Florida, Ohio, North Carolina, Iowa, Georgia, and Kentucky. In Arizona, the Democrats have a strong candidate in Congressman Greg Stanton in a state that former President Clinton won in 2020, despite losing reelection. Stanton will face GOP incumbent Senator Kelli Ward. In South Dakota, it's a rematch between former Senator Tom Daschle and incumbent Republican John Thune. Arkansas is another rematch, former Democratic Senator Blanche Lincoln is running for her old seat against Sen. John Boozman. Florida pits Senator Marco Rubio against Democrat Congressman Darren Soto or state Senator Oscar Braynon, depending on who wins the primary. Ohio has incumbent Senator Rob Portman facing former Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner. North Carolina has Republican state Senator Jim Davis versus former Congressman Brad Miller. Iowa is Republican Congressman David Young against either Congresswoman Abby Finkenauer or former Governor Tom Vilsack. Georgia pits Congresswoman Karen Handel against former state Senator Stacey Abrams. Finally, Kentucky is a battle between Republican Sen. Rand Paul and former Governor Steve Beshear.

This is great, but the whole VP Hagan thing is just a bit too implausible in this current national political atmosphere. I'd think it'd be more plausible for her to just endorse all Democrats. Her endorsing Dems and Marco Rubio out of all Republicans just seems way too wacky. That would kill the alleged approval she has. I'd much more likely see her endorse the likes of Charlie Baker, Phil Scott, and Susan Collins. Rubio and Portman is just not realistic. She'd sooner endorse only Democrats, rather than Dems and those two.

March 31st, 2022: With New Charges Brought Against Him, Menendez Resigns

Early this morning, new accusations of bribery were brought against New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez, who has been battling corruption charges since 2015. Menendez has held onto his seat for another term, reelected in 2018 by a wide margin. But, today, a federal judge announced the charges of favors given out to a Florida doctor in exchange for campaign donations is being reexamined. Quickly, almost all Republicans and half of Senate Democrats called on Menendez to resign. Even his colleague from New Jersey, Sen. Cory Booker, called on the senior Senator to give up his seat. After only 5 hours after the charges were brought back into the public eyes, Senator Bob Menendez announced his immediate resignation from the Senate, leaving Capitol Hill for the last time this afternoon. Now, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy must fill the seat and a special election will be held in November. Possible fillers for Menendez's seat are Lt. Governor Sheila Oliver or Secretary of State Tahesha Way.

April 9th, 2022: Kander Rakes In $7.2 Million For Reelection Bid

Missouri Democratic Senator Jason Kander announced his campaign's fundraising totals for the first quarter of 2022 and they are massive. The Kander campaign brought in $7.2 million for his reelection bid, $6 million for than his opponent, Congresswoman Ann Wagner. Kander is the most vulnerable Democrat up for reelection this year and will need all the money he can get for his tough race. The Kander campaign also said that it has $6.5 million on-hand, spending very little so far on the race. The Missouri Senate election will likely be the closest this year, with Kander's young, charismatic, moderate appeal faced with the savvy Ann Wagner, in a heavily Republican state. Kander has raised the most of any Senate Democrat up for reelection, as far as we know, with second-place being Blanche Lincoln, who brought in $3.3 million for her Arkansas Senate race.

April 16th, 2022: Kasich Will Merge HUD and HHS

Today, the Kasich administration announced that they will merge two government departments into one. The Department of Housing and Urban Development will merge with the Department of Health and Human Services, making it one Department of Housing and Health. This is a major shakeup in the way the federal government works and President Kasich talked a lot about that. "This is a fundamental shift in the way the government operates, making it smaller and more efficient". The President will also have to decide which Cabinet member to drop, either HHS Secretary Jim Gray, a Democrat or HUD Secretary Lynn Jenkins, a Republican. Aides say Jenkins will likely be let go, with many saying the President and Sec. Gray have a good relationship. Democrats jumped on this decision, saying that it was "irresponsible" and "reckless" to roll back an entire department.

April 22nd, 2022: Finkenauer Wins Iowa Primary

In a major defeat to Joe Manchin's Common Sense Democrats Campaign, the preferred candidate of the DSCC won the Iowa primary for Senate last night. Congresswoman Abby Finkenauer defeated former Governor Tom Vilsack, and other minor candidates, with 48%, over the 35% to avoid a runoff. Governor Vilsack came in with 42%. This is a major victory for the more liberal wing of the party which saw this primary as a test of whether or not the Democratic base wanted older, more experienced moderates or younger, more liberal candidates. Finkenauer will now face Congressman David Young in the general, with polling showing Young up by 2-5 points over Finkenauer. Vilsack congratulated Rep. Finkenauer on her win tonight and vowed to campaign for her in the Fall. This Iowa Senate race if on track to be the most expensive in that state's history.

Iowa Senate DEM Primary: 99% Reporting
Finkenauer: 48.3%
Vilsack: 42.2%
Peterson: 7.6%

Kasich Approval Rating:

April 29th, 2022: Department of Housing and Health Opens, Led By Democrat

In a major governmental shift, the Departments of Housing and Urban Development and Health and Human Services have been merged. This new department is called the Department of Housing and Health, or the DHH. The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, former Lexington Mayor Jim Gray, is now the leader of the new agency. The Secretary of HUD, former Nebraska Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins, was given the job of Deputy Secretary. Gray is a Democrat but has formed a strong bond with President Kasich, who was at the unveiling of the new agency today with Sec. Gray. Kasich called the merger a big win for a smaller federal government and a step forward towards "making the Federal Government more efficient and prosperous". Most Democrats have remained silent on the merger, with a few moderate Democrats praising the change. Even liberal New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand called the move "a step in the right direction".

May 6th, 2022: Maryland Sen. Ben Cardin Diagnosed With Alzheimers, Vows To Finish Term

Maryland's senior Senator announced that he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Ben Cardin, who has served in the Senate since 2007, is 78 years old and was showing signs of forgetfulness. In an interview with CNN, Cardin forgot the name of his colleague from Maryland, Senator Chris Van Hollen, pausing for 11 seconds trying to remember his name until CNN anchor Jake Tapper reminded him of Van Hollen's name. The Senator's office released a statement after that incident calling it a "mistake" and saying that Cardin was tired. Now, Cardin has been told by a doctor that he has Alzheimer's but the senator has vowed to stay and finish his term. "I intend to finish this term, even if I forgot who I am. I will always fight for the people of Maryland". Cardin will retire in 2024, opening up a Senate seat in a very blue state. Democrats and Republicans alike have expressed sadness over the diagnoses but few said they were surprised. Ohio Senator Rob Portman told MSNBC that he has noticed a decline in Cardin's health and memory.

May 11th, 2022: Sheila Oliver To Fill Menendez's Senate Seat

The Lt. Governor of New Jersey, Sheila Oliver, was appointed to fill resigning Senator Bob Menendez's seat today, becoming New Jersey's first woman and African American woman Senator. Oliver said that she was "honored" to be appointed and said that she will seek election in the Fall. Oliver is a strong pick for the seat, serving in the New Jersey Assembly for 10 years and is well liked in the state. New Jersey will also now have two African American Senators, the first since Mississippi during Reconstruction. Possible Republican candidates for the seat include former Governor Chris Christie, businessman and 2018 Senatorial candidate Bob Hugin or Congressman Tom MacArthur. The New Jersey Senate race is rated as Likely Democratic but many political handicappers say it could become competitive if a GOP candidate runs a strong campaign.

May 20th, 2022: CSDC Raises $20.4 Million In Last 2 Months

The Common Sense Democrats Campaign, led by Former West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin, has announced it has raised $20.4 million in the last 2 months, showing large enthusiasm for moderate Democratic candidates in red states. Many Democrats see the CSDC as a good organization, forcing Republicans to go on the defensive in the 2022 midterms. The CSDC also just launched a $8.5 million TV ad campaign, airing in South Dakota, Arkansas, and Kentucky. In the ad, Manchin holds a gun and talks about how "moderates get things done". He then turns around and shoots the logo of the Republican party and Democratic party. It's a risky ad, in states where the political makeup is a little more Democratic, but Manchin argues that the ad campaign is just to call attention to the fact that those states are competitive and that the voters in those 3 states should pay attention to the centrist platforms of their Democratic Senate candidates. The DNC has also said that they are ready to put in $50 million in TV in South Dakota, Kentucky, Arizona, Iowa and Arizona, all red-ish states. But, the big investment is in the House, where the DNC says it will pour $100 million into TV and ground operation in swing districts.

June 8th, 2022: Manchin Courting Strickland Gubernatorial Bid

The leader of the Common Sense Democrats Campaign, former West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin, is courting former Ohio Governor and 2016 Senate candidate Ted Strickland to launch a late-in-the-game gubernatoral bid before Ohio's August 9th primary. Strickland would have to compete for the Democratic nomination against Congresswoman Marcia Fudge and the frontrunner, Mayor Michael Coleman from Columbus. Strickland ran a subpar Senate campaign in 2016, losing to incumbent Senator Rob Portman by 20 points. Now, Portman is up for reelection again, facing former Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner. Strickland is likely to announce a campaign in the coming weeks or opt out sooner than that. Democrats have the Ohio Governor's Mansion as a top target, hoping to capitalize off of the moderately popular Governor Mike DeWine's decision to retire. With no incumbent, the Lt. Governor Jon Husted is in a spirited primary fight against businessman Tom Goeke, who has pumped over $10 million into his campaign. At age 80(81 on Election Day), Strickland would be one of the oldest Governor's ever elected.

June 20th, 2022: Attack Leaves 100 Dead in New York

A deadly terrorist attack has left almost 100 people dead in New York City today, prompting President Kasich to hold a press conferance and national address to the nation. The attack was on an opening ceremony for a new momument honoring 9/11 first responders. "These are scary times but let us not be deterred for always fighting for freedom and democracy", the President said in his address to the country. Kasich has ordered an investigation into the attacks, trying to see if ISIS, who claimed to be behind the attack, is really responsible. The Mayor of New York City, Tish James, was also injured in the events but her office says she is doing fine and will be back at City Hall soon. Many people are calling for retaliation from the US on whoever is responsible for the attacks, even Democratic lawmakers. Montana Senator Steve Bullock called for "a strong message that America will not sit on it's hands and let 100 of our fellow Americans die in vain". President Kasich did respond to this saying, "We don't need to send our boys to war just let".

July 3rd, 2022: Michelle Obama May Launch 2026 Illinois Senate Bid

We could have an Obama back in politics, just not the one you think. Reports say that former First Lady Michelle Obama is mulling a 2026 Senate bid in Illinois, assuming incumbent Senator Dick Durbin retires. Obama would likely sail to victory, as she is enourmously popular in Illinois and across the country. Aides say the talks are in early stages but Obama seems likely to run, according to multiple sources. A Michelle Obama platform would likely be more liberal than her husbands but in a deep blue state such as Illinois, it would be aligned with most of the state. The First Lady was born in Chicago and has a house their with President Obama, where they recently moved to live in year round. The return of Michelle Obama on the national stage would excit many Democrats, hoping her popularity and celebrity could rev up the base in what will be a tough presidential election against the popular President Kasich.

July 9th, 2022: Strickland Announces Gubernatorial Campaign

The 80 year-old former Ohio Governor ted Strickland is looking to get his old job back. At a rally in Cleveland today, Strickland launched a last minute campaign for Governor, hoping to win a primary with exactly a month left of campaigning. Strickland said that if elected, he will pledge one term and says that the Common Sense Democrats Campaign is what convinced him to run. Manchin, the leader of the CSDC, said the recruitment was a "big win" and said that he thinks Strickland will win the primary and the general election. If he wins the nomination, Strickland will face either the Lt. Governor of the state Jon Husted or businessman Ted Goeke in November. The Ohio Governor race was expected to be a marquee race this year but with Strickland in, the focus on the race will likely intensify. One of Strickland's opponents in the Democratic primary, Rep. Marcia Fudge, is already attacking him. A new ad released today has Fudge walking down the street, talking about Strickland's reelection defeat in 2012 and his landslide loss in 2016 against Senator Rob Portman. Early polls show Strickland in 2nd, behind Fudge but narrowly ahead of Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman, who's support has collapsed since the possibility of a Strickland candidacy started.

July 18th, 2022: Thune Raises Massive $12.2 Million in 2nd Quarter

Endangered South Dakota Republican John Thune announced today that he raised $12.2 million dollars in the second quarter on 2022, with huge help from party bigwigs and Washington insiders who don't want to see the powerful Republican Senator taken down. His Democratic opponent, former Senator Tom Daschle, also had an impressive fundraising total, bringing in $6.5 million. Thune's cash advantage will go a long way in a small state, such as South Dakota, where it costs very little to run TV and radio ads. Polls show Daschle with a small, but persistent lead over Thune. The RealClearPolitics average of the polling shows Daschle with 46.8% to Thune's 43.9%. Other Republican Senate candidates have not been so lucky. Arkansas Senator John Boozman, who is also facing a challenge from a former senator, announced last week that he only raised $1.2 million in the second quarter, far less than his challenger, former Senator Blanche Lincoln who raised $4.5 million. In Kentucky, Sen. Rand Paul outraised his challenger, former Governor Steve Beshear, $3.3 million to $2.9 million. In another key Senate race, Iowa, Congresswoman Abby Finkenauer announced she's raised almost $6 million, besting her Republican opponent Congressman David Young, who raised $1.5 million. These fundraising totals are key as we near November.

July 24th, 2022: Cruz Warns Of "conservative revolt" In GOP

Texas Senator and two-time Presidential candidate Ted Cruz is saying that he is worried that President Kasich's moderate stance on issues is leading to many conservatives grumbling and talking about leaving the party. "We have a situation here where many conservatives feel like their party is moving away from them. We can't let that happen". Some Republican Senators are already trying to do that. Late last year, 3 Republican senators decided to form the "Conservative Caucus" that would block bills in the Senate that they saw as too moderate. In January, Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton joined the group, making it 4. Now, Cruz says that the caucus is "unhelpful" but he appreciates what they're trying to do. "We can't just give in to the Democrats on every issue. We have a majority in both houses. Let's use it". Cruz also said that he will support the President for reelection but hopes he takes a firmer stance on many issues.

August 6th, 2022: Kasich Swings Through Key Midterms Races

President Kasich is making his first big campaign swing of the 2022 midterms today, campaigning for Republican Senate and Gubernatorial candidates in 3 key states. In Florida, Kasich appeared at a rally for incumbent Senator Marco Rubio, who is facing off with Congressman Darren Soto. Polls show Rubio with a double-digit lead but Republicans still see him as vulnerable. Kasich then campaigned for a joint-ticket of two former Congressmen in Florida, hoping to boost the bipartisan ticket challenging the incumbent Republican Governor Adam Putnam. Former Democratic Congressman Patrick Murphy, who ran for Senate in 2016 against Rubio, is running with former Republican Congressman David Jolly for Governor and Lt. Governor. Kasich has endorsed the moderate, bipartisan ticket, bucking his party and opting to not campaign for Putnam. Then, Kasich traveled to Kentucky, campaigning for Senator Rand Paul who is in a tight battle with former Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear. Polls show the race deadlocked, with a slight advantage to Paul. Then it was on to his home state of Ohio, where Kasich campaigned for Republican Senator Rob Portman who is facing the former Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner and the Republican Lt. Governor Jon Husted, who is Kasich's choice to succeed retiring Governor Mike DeWine in the GOP primary. All of these stops show where Kasich's priorities land. The President wants to help more establishment Republicans win in swing states and fend off moderate Democrats in red states. But, the event with the Murphy-Jolly gubernatorial campaign is likely to unnerve Republicans in Florida and around the country.

It's back!

Augst 9th, 2022: Strickland Edges Out Fudge in Ohio Gubernatorial Primary

The former Governor of the state of Ohio, Ted Strickland, narrowly won his primary to gain back the Governor's Mansion tonight, edging past Congresswoman Marcia Fudge, with Cleveland Mayor, and former frontrunner until Strickland's last-minute entrance into the race, Micheal Coleman far behind. Strickland starts out as the early favorite, leading Lt. Governor Jon Husted in polling. Husted beat businessman Tom Goeke, who pumped almost $12 million into his campaign. Husted and Strickland will be a marquee Governor's race this year, with the face of the GOP establishment going up against a CSDC candidate and former Governor. Strickland badly lost a race for Senate back in 2016 and many Democratic operatives worry that Ohio has soured on Strickland. The Strickland campaign has fought back, saying "Ted is a tireless fighter for Ohio and he has lost some races, but only because he jumps at any fight he can get to help the people of Ohio". The latest poll out of the Ohio general election had Strickland up by 1 point, well within the margin of error.

August 12th: Shock Poll! Lincoln Leads By 12 Points in Arkansas

Former Democratic Senator Blanche Lincoln was thought to be in one of the closest races of the 2022 Senate contests this year until a shock poll from Monmouth today challenged that narrative. The poll shows Lincoln leading incumbent Senator Tom Cotton by 12 points, 52% to Cotton's 40%. Many people have commented on the fact that Lincoln, the challenger, is above 50% while Cotton is barely in the 40's, signaling a big advantage to Lincoln. Democrats have been optimistic about this race for a while, seeing Lincoln's chances of winning as higher than Cotton's. This is only one poll, with another poll coming out last week showing the race tied at 45%, but this poll shows that the tide, especially in the Senate, is with the Democrats despite President Kasich's popularity. In South Dakota where former Senator Tom Daschle is trying to do what Lincoln is doing, coming back to the Senate after a couple of years, polls show him leading narrowly. Democrats seem to have the upper hand in the midterms so far, leading in the Generic Ballot and in most Senate races across the country. But, Republicans could stage a comeback, with about 3 months till election day.

August 24th, 2022: President Clinton Hits Campaign Trail in Arkansas, New York

Hillary Clinton is back on the campaign trail, this time to try and help Democrats in the closest midterms elections in years. The former President held a rally with Blanche Lincoln in Arkansas, playing up her southern roots and talking for a long time about her late husband, and 42nd President, Bill Clinton. Then, Clinton traveled to another one of her home states, New York, to try and boost Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul's struggling bid for Governor. Hochul was expected to coast to the Governor's Mansion this year, until former Governor George Pataki entered the race, throwing the contest into the tossup category. Now, the race seems to tilt towards Pataki, with polls showing him up by anywhere between 4 and 10 points. Clinton is very popular right now, with 70% of Americans with a positive view on her and data shows that her place as America's first female President helps those high numbers. Clinton and the DNC hope that her star power on the campaign trail, coupled with former President Barack Obama's, can help Democrats who are struggling in bluer states. Clinton and Obama are expected to rally with Governor Gavin Newsom in California, where Newsom is down in the polls against the former Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice.

September 2nd, 2022: Blackburn Hints as Primary Challenge to Kasich

Senator Marcha Blackburn from Tennessee has been pretty vocal about her dislike of President Kasich, but now it seems like that dislike may amount to a challenge to his reelection. Blackburn, who is a member of the Kasich agenda- disrupting "Conservative Caucus" hinted at a possible primary challenge to him at a conference today. "I don't think that the President is a true conservative. And I hope, come 2024, the Republican party nominates someone who can bring true conservative values to the White House. If it has to be me, it'll be me". Blackburn has talked about a primary challenge before and seems to be the only member Republican member of the Senate who would do it, with Senators Mike Lee, Kelli Ward, and Tom Cotton, all members of the "Conservative Caucus" ruling out challenges to President Kasich. Polls show that the President is very popular, but not extremely in his own party. Polls show that only 59% of Republicans support him, while 66% of Independents and 33% of Democrats approve of his job performance. Kasich has bucked his own party many times, leaving the more conservative factions of the GOP angry, while boosting his numbers amongst moderate Democrats and Independents.
