Can someone explain why Collins performed well in the South and lost to Rubio in the North?
In this timeline Rubio didn't screw up in the debates and held better as an establishment Republican in comparison to Collins. Plus he campaigned better in the north and his campaign lasted longer because he won Florida.

I’m just saying that it makes sense for the more conservative candidate to win the more conservative states.

Day 3: President of the Divided States of America

The third night of Democratic National Convention was filled with more security than any major party convention in the past thirty years. President Barack Obama appeared as the keynote speaker in an attempt to appeal to moderates and reunite the party. While the speech received praise, the conflict still arises between moderate democrats and Sanders supporters. Several key speakers of the night canceled due to security reasons, including Angela Bassett and Tim Kaine. Here's a portion of his speech:

The DNC isn't really helping change my mind currently. I'll see what the 4th day brings.

Day 4: A New America

The Democratic National Convention comes to a conclusion after four nights, with Bernie Sanders walking away with a fractured party, or as Hillary Clinton would put it: a "shattered" party. The majority of moderate democrats feel as if Bernie is "too progressive" to lead the party, and feel betrayed by the DNC for pushing Bernie's campaign. While Obama and Biden have tried to hurdle their supporters around Bernie Sanders, Clinton seemingly urged her supports to seek "another" candidate, presumably moderate Republican Susan Collins.

On the topic of Susan Collins, reports are leaking that a more conservative (even more conservative than Donal Trump) figure will soon emerge for an independent run. Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan have released no statement about this. Nonetheless, any losses Susan Collins will take with an independent opponent will surely be helped by any gains she makes with moderate democrats.

I'm seeing a few possible parallels... Brian Sandoval - Tim Kaine, Hillary Clinton - Ted Cruz, Kirsten Gillibrand - Mike Pence, TL RNC - RL DNC, TL DNC - RL RNC... Bernie Sanders - Donald Trump, Susan Collins - Hillary Clinton? We'll see, I guess. Interesting.

July 30th, 2016
Roy Moore Launches American Independent Campaign

At a rally in Mentone, Alabama, Chief Justice of the Alabaman Supreme Court Roy Moore announced his bid for the presidency with the American Independent Party, stating that he’ll be the conservative figure in this race against “a communist and a democrat.” Moore also claimed that it didn’t help that the democrat was “a woman.” Chief Justice Moore stated that former Oklahoma senator Tom Coburn would be his running mate, and Senator Jeff Sessions gave an appearance, endorsing him.

True, I was thinking of it from an independent standpoint but Moore would do better off with southern conservatives. Will edit soon.
