I think it's pretty clear she tired of waiting for her turn. Her slogan is "Change Can't Wait." Pretty clear shot at the MA Dem establishment.

Ocasio-Cortez tweeted out an endorsement for Pressley last night, so she could get a boon from that. Maybe AOC could drive two hours north and come campaign!

The fact that it's this close at this point is bad news for Capuano. Pressley should get AOC to Boston ASAP.

Imho Maura Harley wouldn’t fight against the MassDem establishment unless she was certain Pressley was going to pull this off.

It all comes down to turnout. Are there diehard Capuano supporters, the kind who’d show up to a primary? And if so, will they outnumber the Pressley diehards?

This cycle has seen progressive insurgents, particularly female progressive insurgents, pull off upsets all around the country. I’m not counting out Pressley until the votes are counted.

I still support Capuano since he will be the ranking member of the house transportation committee when we take back the house, and he has always helped us in MA out, but hes clearly getting too old for the job.
Respectfully, that is not a great reason to vote for a politician, especially one that's as out-of-touch as Capuano.

Took a little bit of race baiting for you to support him, eh?

If Capuano is one of the strongest progressives in Congress, that shows what dire straits Congress is in.

The man called himself a fiscal conservative in 2009 (according to Wikipedia, the linked citation is dead).

He does vote correctly most of the time. I can’t point to a single thing he’s done or a bold stand he’s taken, however.

What would Pressley take a bold stance on?
No idea, but she isn’t the one with 20 years in the House of Representatives.

In 1987, Capuano helped to write Somerville's sanctuary city ordinance, and later supported its indefinite extension.

Jesus, over 30 years ago. Forward thinking to be sure. He was also very anti-Iraq, which is great.

But he just seems to get these culture things plain wrong. During the first Weiner sexting scandal, he refused to call on him to resign (they were close friends and shared an apartment in DC). More recently, he said Conyers deserves “due process”. This isn’t a criminal trial, Mike, it’s about serving in the United States House of Representatives.

God I feel like unless you live in this seat, the follow up and endless post match commentary is going to be much more unbearable than the actual result. Both Capuano, and Pressley seem to fit perfectly within both the MA, and wider Democratic ideology, neither have ethical, or personality flaws, and both would serve the district well.
So we’re just ignoring the fact that twice Capuano has been asked to call on a sexual harassing fellow congressperson to resign and twice he punted?

That strikes me as a personality flaw.
