Do we have a thread for these? Anyway, the member for Batman has resigned. Lab Green race is the likeliest result

An ABC article about the contest. It appears to be getting harder and harder for Reservoir and Preston to outvote the southern parts of the seat. It will be interesting to see what the Liberals do. David Feeney generally received most of the Liberals' preferences on the second ballot over the Greens in past elections.

Yeah there's going to be an odd movement - perhaps Kearney's background in unionism will be off putting for Lib voters but Feeney was genuinely a terrible fit for this seat so she should attract more floating Green-Lab voters.

Former WA Premier Colin Barnett has resigned his seat of Cottesloe, causing a by-election. Labor isn't running so it's between the Liberals and the Greens, and the Libs will win it.

Batman's coming in thick and fast, almost 29% first preferences in, and although it's close it looks like Labor will win it by a nose.

It looks like Labor's going to hold Batman, which isn't good for the Greens.

Looks like a 1-2% swing to Labor.

Mr Misadventures forced retirement has definitely helped Labor in Batman, however I can't see a Union woman changing the long-term trend here.

Ged Kearney has won it for Labor, I can't see Bhathal making a comeback.

There's definitely now a question mark under Di Natale's leadership. Tasmania, Batman and arguably South Australia are not good, and he can't keep pointing to Maiwar.

As usual for Western Australia they're taking forever to count anything.

I don't really mind that it's slow to count, it means nothing to the running of anything in WA, it's a very safe Liberal seat that will stay Liberal.

The Liberals have won Cottesloe to the tune of 70-30 over the Greens.

WAEC has scheduled the formal declaration of the Cottesloe By-election on Tuesday. Turnout is abysmal, only 66.56%.

Meanwhile in Batman the AEC will still be legally receiving postal votes until Friday. So we'll probably get the formal declaration in a week and a bits time.

Cottesloe will be an absolute blow out for the Liberals against the Greens, it'll probably stay 70-30 like the unofficial results have it as. I wonder what the margin would look like if Labor had run?
