If Hillary had said, "I will sign whatever tax cut Ryan and McConnell want, and won't demand it be diluted nor will I demand anything in return," would she have won?

Yes, she would have racked up even bigger margins in the Philly, Atlanta, Raleigh, Charlotte, Maricopa, suburban areas to flip those states, and would have improved her margins elsewhere as well.

If that was the case you'd probably have the Republican establishment start backing in Clinton, but also the progressive base supporting Stein/a Sanders independent run. It's just a matter of which effect of the two is bigger.

No, she would've lost by more, since more Democrats would've stayed home/voted third party, and no more Republicans would defect to her.

Sure, while we're at it, let's say she promises to sign an abortion ban and reinstate DADT, could she have won then?

It would have convinced me to vote third party because essentially the election then is an R vs R runoff, with one R who isn't bigoted but can actually get things done and wants more than basic gun control, and another who is incompetent, bigoted, and then actually ensure a Democratic majority in 2020 since the left will be in opposition.

The idea is that she'd be reaching out to George Pataki supporters.

You and no other Democrat. LOL. This would not have gotten her anymore votes. More young people, blacks, and unmarried women would have stayed home or voted third party.

That would have made her position worse - it might have even made her not the favorite to win. She would have been perceived as a "Democrat who acts like a Republican," which would have turned off more voters.

Uh no, she would lose a considerable amount of the Democratic base

No, she would have only done much worse with the progressive base and made very little to no progress with Republican voters. Republicans in 2016 cared about more than just the issue of taxation. Why vote for a Democrat that will give you tax cuts when you could vote for a Republican that will give you tax cuts, a conservative Supreme Court, increased border security, and the renegotiation of trade deals? When given the choice between a Republican and Republican-lite, people will choose the Republican.

I feel stupider for having read this thread.

At least PO and PiS have distinct economic policies these days!

Some of the questions on atlas makes me wonder if spending an obsessive amount of time on this forum is making people dumber.
