Selfish yes, but Houston is an excellent place to host an event based on our last Super Bowl.

Now, if it weren't for our, erm, catastrophic flooding of last year, I'd feel better about hosting a convention in the summer.

Why are so many of you saying that it "NEEDS" to be in Milwaukee?

The 2012 DNC was in North Carolina and Obama lost NC.

The 2016 DNC was in Pennsylvania and Hillary lost PA.

The convention doesn't "need" to be in Milwaukee. As long as the Democratic candidate visits Wisconsin a few times, we should be fine.

Whatever city they decide I will be fine with though.

LOL, I agree.

However, I was talking about winning Wisconsin not necessarily the election as a whole.

But, and this is a big one, Milwaukee is a better city than Miami and Houston in terms of weather, beer, and cheese.

Win, Win, Win.

Weather? LOL.

Anyways, like I said, I'll fine with any of the 3 cities. I just don't think that it "needs" to be in Milwaukee.

Milwaukee does has better weather than Houston and Miami... in July. The average high is only 80 and it won't be as humid as the swamplands of either Houston or Miami. It'd be a different story if we were talking about January.

Someone wants the convention to be a Third Way coronation in the glitzy beaches of Miami. Ha.

I agree that the convention ultimately has little to no impact on an election but I think the optics of what city it takes place in is important. Milwaukee is more beneficial in that department.

I hope you're not talking about me. If you are, then I don't know what you're talking about because I'm not a "Third Way" Democrat.

Also, coronation? What is wrong with you?

Not surprising that they're giving it to the only city that actually wanted it, and not the one that the Nevada GOP is trying to shove down their City's throats

Actually sounds like there some reluctance in the Charlotte City Council.

Dems can afford to lose Florida, but CO and WI are critical.

Florida is worth more EV's than those two states combined.

The FL Democratic party is in ruins right now, and will be a pivotal state for Dems in the near future (it practically is rn).

Is it any surprise no one wants the RNC? It will probably be the target of the largest protests since the 1968 DNC.

It’d be hilarious if Charlotte pulled out at the last second leaving the RNC in limbo.

That would be amazing! At that point they should try holding it in Moscow. They might end up being successful with that bid.

The Charlotte city council is holding a special meeting at 2pm on Monday to debate hosting the RNC and vote on it.  If they vote yes, then the RNC may well offer it to them later in the week:

Also, Charlotte mayor Vi Lyles says she supports the bid to host the RNC, but will refuse to give a welcoming address to the convention:
