Milwaukee is an excellent choice. If that falls through though: Pittsburgh, Phoenix, Atlanta, or Detroit would be decent choices as well. I don't personally believe that where a convention takes place has much effect on an election, but it can't really hurt to hold it in a competitive state.

I'm fine with either. I've said this before but I really don't think the convention will have much of an impact on flipping a state.

I’m going to vote no on San Fran, putting our parties convention in that city would give the gop/Fox News a plethora of talking points that we don’t need.

I agree. It wouldn't look good, even though it shouldn't matter. Meanwhile the GOP has the luxury of holding their convention pretty much anywhere without much backlash. That's just the typical uneven playing field that our politics operates on.

Former San Antonio mayor Phil Hardberger doesn't want the city to bid for the RNC, and the reason is Drumpf:

He's right. That could be a disaster. Though the Republicans would probably be overjoyed at their ability to stoke the flames of the culture war even further by being able to film ads with angry Latinos and Latinas mobilizing outside the convention center.

Why doesn't the DNC look at St. Louis or Kansas City, Mo?

Bring Missouri back to relevance presidentially.

Missouri, the place where the BLM conversation on race started, the place where Eric Greitens will fall. Why don't Democrats have their convention in the heartland?

That's actually not a bad idea.

I guess I'll make a list too, why not?

1. Milwaukee
2. Atlanta
3. Miami
4. Houston
5. Birmingham
6. Denver

Probably should not be considered at all:
7. New York
8. San Francisco

If it's in Vegas what are the odds that they hold the convention at a Trump property?

Milwaukee is the absolute best choice.

Why are so many of you saying that it "NEEDS" to be in Milwaukee?

The 2012 DNC was in North Carolina and Obama lost NC.

The 2016 DNC was in Pennsylvania and Hillary lost PA.

The convention doesn't "need" to be in Milwaukee. As long as the Democratic candidate visits Wisconsin a few times, we should be fine.

Whatever city they decide I will be fine with though.

I agree that the convention ultimately has little to no impact on an election but I think the optics of what city it takes place in is important. Milwaukee is more beneficial in that department.

Not surprising that they're giving it to the only city that actually wanted it, and not the one that the Nevada GOP is trying to shove down their City's throats

Actually sounds like there some reluctance in the Charlotte City Council.

It’d be hilarious if Charlotte pulled out at the last second leaving the RNC in limbo.

That would be amazing! At that point they should try holding it in Moscow. They might end up being successful with that bid.

This could backfire. Trump might end up being worried that the Charlotte is another one of his mistresses that he paid hush money for.
