See above.

Progressive in this case means from more of the left-wing of the party.

Bernie Sanders if he dumps Jeff Weaver. Otherwise, and maybe even if Sanders axes Weaver, Elizabeth Warren or Kirsten Gillibrand, but I just don't have as much of a parameter on how they'd try to appeal to the WWC in a similar manner that was leaked that Sanders would do ahead of the 2020 election, because that's the best chance at creating a political realignment. At this point honestly, policy matters far less than I thought it would 14 months ago, since the likely contenders all basically agree on everything. It's about can they be able to politically be a successful progressive president that actually fundamentally transforms this country.

Elizabeth Warren.

Sanders just can't appeal to everyone in the party, Gillibrand has issues with her past as a Blue Dog, and WWC voters won't vote for Gabbard or Harris (then again, they might not vote for Warren either).

I want to say Gabbard but if we are being honest it's probably Warren. Warren is quite underrated -- if she runs. She and Sanders are the most consistent populists, and Sanders is getting too old.

Tulsi Gabbard is a progressive just like Donald Trump is a nice person.

Warren, obviously. Sanders would be good, too...but I'm sure the party will sabotage him again.

Elizabeth Warren. I think Gabbard would be the most likely Dem to defeat Trump, but not yet willing to sacrifice my values to support her.

Progressive is honestly the least meaningful word in Democratic politics right now. It's like 'Conservative ' in the GOP from 2011-2016

Probably Biden. Unlike Bernie, he has working class appeal and he leads in the polls.

Biden still seems like the best choice. He is moderate abd has working class appeal. Trump is gaffe prone but still did well.

Do you consider Biden moderate or progressive?

They aren't mutually exclusive.

While that's true in theory, in real world those words designate two separate wings of the Democratic party.

Above. Liz Warren is great but like Hillary, she's been in the limelight too long and her unfavs are already high. Plus she's probably better off in the Senate.

People are really suggesting that Biden and Gillibrand are progressives? Are we witnessing a co-opting of the term?

It's already gone. When a sizable number of registered Dems claimed HRC as progressive, it ceased to mean anything at all.

I mean, unlike Hillary Clinton in the 2016 campaign, Gillibrand currently sides with Sanders on virtually every domestic policy issue (and isn't necessarily that far from him on most foreign policy issues either, for that matter).  If Gillibrand had a debate with Sanders tomorrow, what would they even disagree about?

Of course, the question people have is over authenticity.  Gillibrand may never actually convince very many of the Sanders voters that she's on their side, but I guess we'll find out (assuming she runs).
