Trump only got 51% of the vote there. We need to stop acting like this was some groundbreaking 60%+ margin win. Hillary failed to consolidate support.

Trump "only" got 51% of the vote there, but a number of Republicans in Ohio voted 3rd party, as well as a few Democrats.

Ohio Democrats, traditionally, have rallied to victory when Organized Labor delivered big.  This usually happened when the Armageddon of Right-To-Work laws seem likely.  Ohio's been able to hold that off somehow, even as Michigan and Missouri have gone Right-To-Work.  That's the key right now.  If it were only 1958 for the Democrats.  Still, a big push from labor (including unions that represent fossil fuel workers) is the ONLY way for Democrats to prevail.

The other way is to regain at least SOME lost votes in the Southeastern portion of the state.  This part of Ohio is ancestrally Democratic but has trended back to the GOP after shifting toward the Democrats from the Bill Clinton years up until 2010.  This part of Ohio is non-ethnic whites and very, very few blacks, working class, but with union members.  It's also the area of Ohio where Bill Clinton started his bus tour in 1992.  Somehow, the Democrats are going to have to convince these folks that they're not deplorable and stress real common interests.  That's something Hillary Clinton failed miserably at.
