Not counties, but I think all Independent cities should just be merged into the counties they're located in.

Menominee County, Wisconsin

The only reason the County exists is because the Federal Government tried to take home rule away from the Menominee Native American tribe, so the state of Wisconsin stepped in and blocked it by giving them their own County. The Federal Government should never have taken the step to trigger the process by which the County was created of attempting to take home rule from the tribe in the 1st place.

Also, a bunch of Texas Counties should be merged in the North Texas area.

I sometimes wonder if Chicago should be separated from Cook County into an independent city, and turn Cook into one of the suburban Collar Counties.

All five New York City Boroughs. New York City really should be a consolidated City/County.

I think Allendale and Bamberg Counties should be merged back into Barnwell County in South Carolina.  There are some other changes I'd make in South Carolina counties, but the remainder aren't as simple as mere retrocession.

Wow, that's off the beaten path. It's literally connected to the rest of the island by a mule path. You might be the first forum member to ever visit there.

I was there about a year ago. You also can hike the trail, and there’s even an airport with scheduled passenger service.

I have reservations to fly in to Molokai in the early morning, hike the trail down, take the tour, then fly out. I've seen the flight from Kaluapapa to Kaunakakai on Molokai described as the shortest scheduled passenger flight - it's only 9 miles by air. From the main Molokai airport I'll fly back to Maui that same afternoon.

I'll be making these flights, starting on the Big Island and moving west over two weeks. I wouldn't miss the chance to see all 5 counties in HI, even Kalawao.

Maybe the shortest in this country, but this is the winner for shortest flight.

I wonder how many people have said they've been to all 4 counties in Hawaii, having no idea that there was a 5th one.

I believe the state treats it more of a precint than separate county when it comes to counting votes.
