New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo wins the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and California Sen. Kamala Harris.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump wins GOP 2020 renomination over former Ohio Gov. John Kasich. Who wins? Cuomo or Trump? Discuss with maps.

Cuomo is seen as corrupt as hell.  Easy win for Trump.

Depends how Cuomo shows himself to voters, but if he does not effectively do that, a Trump win.

I think that Dark Horse is right on the money.  I think that Virginia could be in play as well.

A brash, corrupt, New Yorker with a reputation for scorched earth campaigning? No someone like that could never be elected President.

I actually don't cuomo would do all that bad, he's a pretty smart guy and he could probably flip the midwest if he played the right message. Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, right?

Cuomo is indicted shortly before election day, leading to his ticket carrying only California and Vermont, with New York being a tossup that ultimately goes to Trump by a few thousand votes.

The day Cuomo is the Democratic Nominee is the day the Democratic Party in America dies, probably for good or at least a couple of decades.

Trump wins. He would hammer Cuomo for is alleged corruption and slam him as "Corrupt Andy". I already hear Trump yelling "Oh boy, corrupt Andy... He shouldn't even be allowed to run. He's that much corrupt, I mean, I have never seen anything like it. He should be in prison, believe me folks. Maybe I should have the FBI looking him up, but the FBI is rigged big league."

There's been a lot of talk about Cuomo on this site, what are the indications that he might run?

I think almost any big state governor is automatically considered a potential contender in an open nomination.

Corrupt Andy will need a VP to get progressive activists or blacks in line and hold their nose, otherwise he loses with Clinton 2016 map plus Michigan and minus Nevada.

I think almost any big state governor is automatically considered a potential contender in an open nomination.

No, it's more than that.  Cuomo hasn't spent much time on the traditional legwork of wannabe presidents.  E.g., he doesn't do much of anything in the way of early primary state visits (though he was in the early caucus state of Nevada recently).  But there are legit reasons to think that Cuomo is interested in a presidential run.

First, he dodges when he's asked about it, e.g.:

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=273224.msg5921876#msg5921876

And while I do think it's still a bit early to scrutinize denials that carefully, it's also true that folks who dodge are probably more likely to run than those who give flat denials.  "But doesn't everyone dodge rather than give a flat denial?"  Not really.  Tim Kaine, for example, has given a flat denial.

And then the other thing is that we keep occasionally getting people in his inner circle leaking to the press that he's thinking about it.  E.g., both of these Politico stories from last year suggest that he's open to running:

https://www.politico.com/story/2017/02/andrew-cuomo-new-york-2020-235403
https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/07/07/andrew-cuomo-2020-trump-215348

And really, that goes back years.  There were stories in 2014 in which Cuomo's inner circle leaked the fact that he wanted to run for president in 2016, but knew there was no way for him to beat Hillary Clinton for the nomination, so such a run would be fruitless.

Trump is so corrupt and incompetent that he would make a very weak nominee for President an effective challenger. Trump would lose this election, but Cuomo would lose in 2024.

I don't see why this is an improbable map

Trump adds New Hampshire, Minnesota, Nevada and Maine.

Michigan and Virginia toss-ups

But I don't see how the Dems nominate Cuomo
