Gary Johnson took a lot of votes away from Trump. Hillary won nevada by 2.4 percent,Johnson got three percent. Hillary won Minnesota by 1.4 percent, Johnson got 3.9 percent.

Do we know who the Johnson voters were though?  I.e., were they Brooks Brothers lean-R voters who would have voted for Rubio but not Trump?  In that case, they might vote for Trump in 2020 as long as he continues seeming more normal.  Or were they white collar white liberals who just didn't like Hillary and didn't think Trump would win?  Those voters would probably vote for a non-Hillary Democrat.  Or were they a mixture of the two?

I think those voters were a wash.  The Romney-Clinton voters were probably the ones who gave Clinton the popular vote (though they may not have flipped any additional states to Trump, except New Hampshire and mayyyybe Minnesota).

It's definitely not a safe assumption that more Johnson voters would have voted for Trump instead of Clinton had he not been on the ballot.
