It's a dumb rule.  You can have opposite sex friends without any sort of romantic feeling, and certainly without any sexual activity.

Absolutely ridiculous. when I was teenager, my parents just made sure all my female friends were skinny white girls so I'd have no interest in having sex with them, and it worked.

Most teenage boys will be homosocial anyway.  In any case, I imagine that most parents who enforce this sort of rule are not as concerned about their sons becoming sexually interested in female friends, but are more likely reacting to the notion that boys who grow up with a lot of female friends will be more likely to be effeminate or homosexual.

how could she possibly have enforced it?  Mom's are stupid (and mean).  Sure, like some socialists, they might mean well, but living the way they want you to live is not really a life worth living.

Same, except that a solid majority of my friends were female. People called me gay for some apparent reason, you learn to ignore it. It ticks me off that people assume that you are not your  sexual orientation because of the situation. I've always found it easier to talk to females, maybe it is because they are more mature and are more willing for me to add anything to a conversation.

yeah, since I was a teenager my friends have always just been a bunch of hot girls. The thing was that I was pretty much oblivious to whenever a girl would come on to me and my parents took that as a clear sign I was gay.

It's strange because I tried to be straight for years before I realized I was gay, but everyone else saw it all along.

Horrible.

I remember that I was once interested in a girl/classmate (at about 13), and her parents forbid her to have a male friend as they were from a very religious family with ten kids.

If you don't mind, is your mother muslim? They typically rule it!

I'm still trying to figure out how it was enforceable.  Especially as you got closer to 18.  13, fine, whatever, no big deal to not have friends that are girls, but 18?  That's just cruel to you.  Was she on your shoulder 24/7?

Yes. I wasn't allowed anywhere without being supervised by her or someone who would talk to her.

Is this a thing? How could they stop you? It's not like they could prevent you from talking to girls at school. I literally can't wrap my head around this.

Nope. She just thought I would say the wrong thing to a girl and that the resulting fallout would cause me to commit suicide. She used stories about "cyberbullying" to justify her actions.

Out of interest, have you spoken to a woman at any point since you turned 18, and how did it go?
