On Social and Cultural Issues, it's Liberal or Conservative in comparison with the time period they were in.

The 1920s were by far more conservative than the 1980s (Taxes were cut more in the 20s than 80s, Government Spending was cut more in the 1920s(despite the fact that government was already much smaller in 1920 than it was in 1980) , there also was a red scare , there was prohibition, you had even a more conservative president and GOP(I would argue moderates in the GOP had more influence in 1980 than 1920s.)

Also the 1950s were not more conservative compared to the 2000s . Economically it was way further to the left and on social issues the country moved to the left in the 1950s for most of that decade , while in the 2000s the country moved to the right on social issues until the very end of that decade.

That's your opinion. In my opinion, the government cuts of the 1920s merely took things back to where they were before World War I, not too long ago. Whereas the tax cuts and change in thinking of the 1980s overturned decades of orthodoxy. In fact, it was so successful that 2000s conservatism was just an extension of 1980s conservatism.

I would say it took it back to how things were before Teddy Roosevelt.

On the 1950s though I would say it was not nearly as Conservative as the 2000s:

- Dwight Eisenhower was and governed as a moderate, George W Bush governed as a Conservative

- GOP was much stronger in the 2000s than 1950s, and conservatives were still in the political wilderness in the 1950s(which they wouldnt start to get out of until 1968) while for most of the 2000s it was Liberals who were in the political wilderness(especially from 2001-2006).

- Eisenhower implemented one of the largest public work projects, kept taxes astronomically high , and kept the New Deal Regulatory State. While Bush on the other hand cut taxes (even though they were much lower in 2001 compared to 1953) , took deregulation to a whole new level.

- The Country on Social issues was clearly moving towards the left throughout the 1950s while in the 2000s they were moving to the right till like 2008.
