If there is a strong centrist third party in 2020, they could easily finish with 5-10% in DC, more than Trump.

Considering Trump only got 4% there in 2016, this is bound to happen sooner or later.

Nader finished only 8,000 votes behind Bush in 2000. Anderson came pretty close in 1980, winning 9% vs. 13% for Reagan.
