I dont believe the link is causative. I think the common theme here is we have low IQ mildly autistic young men with access to semi-automatic weapons.

Given their social misacceptance, hiding in a dark room playing video games would be their modus operandi regardless of whether they wanted to conduct a mass shooting or not.

In all seriousness,  violent media may trigger dangerous impulses in a damaged mind. But as an argument it’s so intellectually dishonest, and a clear diversion tactic. Unstable young men exist in every nation on the planet, and have since Cain bashed Abel’s brains in. Never too late to start. I didn't game until I was out of school. I honestly believe people who don't game at all are missing out. You don't even need coordination or be "good" to enjoy a lot of what's out there. A lot of "games" are closer to interactive movies than games, with narrative experiences exceeding most/all of what you can see in a theater.
