Terrible news for Dems. Claire ought to move to Canada and change her name. What a game changer. Wow.

What are you talking about?

People here over react and worry too much. The Greitens scandal impact on the Senate race was always over blown.  And this just proves he was guilty.

On June 5th the democrats will blow the GOP out in the special state Senate election in the Kansas City area.

Watching his resignation speech was infuriating. This prick cannot take any responsibility for anything! It's pretty clear that he was forced out due to Missouri GOP pressure. Either way, good riddance! I do wonder if this makes Governor Kander less of an inevitability now. I also wonder how this will affect the Missouri Senate race. I am not ready to write off McCaskill or classify the race as anything other than a tossup still, but it does potentially make the race tougher.
All in all, this is kind of a Pyrrhic victory for Democrats. But at face value, it's always good to see a scumbag get his comeuppance.

No, it's clear that Hawley has this. He will win by 10 points on election day and Illinois will vote for Trump in 2020. It's all over now. We're doomed.

Great news that Rapin' Eric is finally out of office, even if it was amusing seeing him flounder under pressure. I don't think this has much of an effect on the Senate race, however: it's not like Greitens was going to be in office by November even if he didn't resign, and impeaching him could have scored faux bipartisanship points for the Missouri GOP.

The GOP would not have been able to gather the votes to impeach him.

I am trying to research how the Lt. Governor will be filled. Apparently state law does now allow the governor to fill it? Possibility of special election?

Dark horse opportunity for Democrats this year but too murky and unclear right now. Most likely it will be left vacant until 2020 election.

Considering Missouri was an obvious case of over performance by the GOP in 2016 an open Lt. Gov seat in 2020 could well be a Democratic opportunity.

For the record there is literally zero room for the GOP to grow in out state Missouri and the STL and KC Suburbs are going to become more Democratic locally if anything.

Yep. Warren and Murphy are toast. Prepare for a Republican veto-proof majority in the Senate. In fact, Democrats should just give up.

Please. It's not 2017 anymore.

The Senate favors the GOP,  but PA,  MI,  WI are the states that Trump needs,  not MO or IN in order to win 270.

Gov. Eric Greitens is gone today.

What a disgrace. I once admired Eric Greitens. What a damn shame.

He's finished now. He can't make a political comeback---I don't think so.

Just wait until 2028 when President Trump Jr issues a full pardon, explaining how Governor Greitens was mistreated.

Suddenly the anti-intellectual GOP loves Rhodes Scholars? I can't wait for them to use that against Booker if he runs in 2020. Hypocrites.

He defended the Duggars during the molestation scandal. Republicans only care about sexual assault when it’s their enemies. They try to weaponize the MeToo movement.

Same with any other issue.  They'll shrug when blacks suffer from police brutality, but then they'll say "What about all the black and Latino babies that die from abortions?!"

The GOP just loves criminals and criminality. Can't we all just admit that being a criminal is fun?

In fairness to Mike Huckabee, a phrase I don't use often, that was only the first sentence of his post. The next three sentences of the paragraph detailed greitens criminal charges and other allegations, ending with noting that it is one of the fastest and farthest Falls from Grace in recent political history.

Although it is one of the most overused and abused phrases of press secretaries everywhere, Ironically, in this case, posting that one sentence alone truly takes the rest of what he wrote out of context.
