For Democrats to unseat this particular sitting President, they will have to (A) be unreletingly serious, and (B) credibly present President Trump as someone who is not a serious adult.  This will be harder and harder for Democrats to do the longer Trump is an incumbent.  Even if he keeps Tweeting some of the stupid things he Tweets, if he's President and we're not melting down, he is going to be seen as "the President", and a degree of seriousness is attached to that image.  He's still Donald Trump, however, so that remains the key.  All this being the case, if Democrats nominate someone other than a seriousl politician, they will lose, and so will their party in Congress.  Trump's position for 2020 is not all that strong, but Democrats have a knack to give the GOP a lame nomininee to beat them over the head with when it looks like they might win.
