That sounds to me like a question on some of the bank fraud charges; the tax return matters would be more "strict liability".

Bear in mind too he could be found guilty on certain charges and not guilty on others. It isn’t all or nothing.

And 18 charges to decide on. This isn't OJ.

Btw, word to the wise: Be extra vigilant about not getting sucked into Twitter reports of “super secret insider reports” about juror leanings.

Having been on a few juries, all I can read into it is that they're digging into the evidence and asking for clarification on complex stuff.  That's exactly what they should be doing.

Yeah, I can't decide whether I should just laugh at all of the hot takes or shake my head at them. Some people are seriously acting like the sky is falling because the jurors had some questions.

Also having been on a few juries, the request to define reasonable doubt means to me someone is promoting unreasonable doubt.

Anyway, deliberations resume at 9.30am, so this might be another big Friday.

I kind of expect some of this to happen, especially if the jury does feel Gates is to blame for some of the crimes. I think he will be found guilty of some/most, but there may be a few he is aquitted of.

Trump: “I think the whole Manafort trial is very sad. When you look at what’s going on there, I think it’s a very sad day for our country. He worked for me for a very short period of time. And you know what? He happens to be a very good person. I think it’s very sad what they’ve done to Paul Manafort.” Link

Yea, he is facing 18 charges. There is zero chance he gets acquitted on all 18.

Manafort won't be convicted on all of the charges. That reasonable doubt questions worries me.

Word is that the jury want to finish deliberations at 5, because one of the twelve has an appointment. Likely no verdict today.

Court officials are saying that as long as they don’t consistently abuse their privilege, the jury can meet for as long or short a period as they want. So this could take some time.

Jurors are people too and they have a lot of evidence to review. They can and should take as long as they need on each charged count

That’s fair. I’d much rather they come to a clear, deliberate conclusion having fully considered all the factors, rather than rush through the case, burning themselves out and potentially delivering an erroneous verdict.

Just restless to see what that verdict is.

Except the Jury is not sequestered and the President of the United States is openly attacking the prosecution.

On the bright side, the prosecution can retry.

Pretty much. I have no idea how he can get off from 18 separate charges of fraudulent activity against the Government beyond some jurors just wanting to start schitt despite the fact that there is a gratuitous amount of that already. There's all of this going on and we haven't had a major problem in this country since like 2011. Imagine what would happen once we do.

Yeah, I don't see Manafort getting a hung jury here. There is 18 freaking charges here and some of the evidence is damning.
