Jewish working class socialism in the US outside NYC

What were the strongest centers of Jewish working class socialism in the US outside of New York?

You don't really hear much about it outside of the New York Jewish community - garment workers, unions, support for socialist and Communist candidates etc.

In Canada, Toronto, Montreal and Winnipeg were all bastions of Jewish socialism.  Toronto's Jewish areas sent to Communist MLAs to the provincial legislature in the 1940s and early 1950s, Montreal Jews elected a Communist MP in the 1940s (who was later arrested for spying for the Soviet Union) and north Winnipeg was a stronghold for the socialist CCF.

Was there ever a mass Jewish working class in the garment industry in the Twin Cities or were they overwhelmingly small proprietors with few manual workers?
